I think it is a good move and will boost our defence capabilities

I'm not necessarily suggesting to spend all the resources on one platform. Of course, diversification is the way forward, but that's a long term project. However, on a more urgent basis, we need the JF-17 to replace the bulk of obsolete platforms. Most importantly, we need new airframes! Not second-hand fatigued airframes (even if they had an MLU upgrade).
That's exactly what I'm trying to point out. Rather, the capacity issue needs to be addressed. China could assist accordingly in this regard. The PAF is eventually going to "mass migrate" to the JF-17 platform sooner rather than later. One can only postpone the migration process by acquiring more F-16s.
Also, you don't necessarily have to produce massive amounts of JF-17 fighter jets per year. This can be adjusted to budget and technical constraints. As long as it happens which is most important. Eventually, overtime the obsolete platforms will be replaced. Even if it takes longer than initially planned. Pakistan has already invested massive amounts in training facilities etc. I don't find this a valid reason for acquiring more F-16s.
Yes, I know. It's very tempting to go for second-hand F-16 airframes being decommissioned all around the world. Yes, the familiarity aspect also plays a huge role in decision-making. Although, I've tried to sum up the pros and cons. In my view, the cons outweigh the pros. The F-16 merely serves as a stopgap which is eventually going to be completely phased out.
I'm aware of the current situation faced by Pakistan. Pakistan needs more choppers on an urgent basis to fight insurgents. Frankly, the fighter jets can wait a little while longer if we look at it that way.
In 2030/50 time frame, even the "stones" will be advanced enough to shoot down things like F-16 & JF-17...!F16's would be flying in PAF till 2030 at least. JF 17's would be an integral part of PAF and would serve till 2050 or may be more.
If you do some minor calculations this is about the right time for these aircraft to end. 2030 is 15yrs and 1 month form now it is about 5000 hrs average per plane PAF F16s MLU would give them these. F16 Blk50/52 would also be around same number of hours. In 2030/50 time frame, even the "stones" will be advanced enough to shoot down things like F-16 & JF-17...!
Which most probably he is. I don't see the tell-tale signs of a native English speaker in his posts.
well Good luck trying that. Unless you want to do it in your dreams.yes Israel has, and some of believe we should abandon Israel to the wolves.
Bhai.India will never engage in this sort of nonsense (infringe others' IPR rights for a foreign player) and has a decent reputation on the matter, I don't know what the situation is with the Chinese and Paksitan but to be fair I would say the US are shrewd enough to keep their IPR intact in Pakistan. Didn't I hear the US tell the PAF to keep the F-16s are different bases from the JF-17s or at least away from Chinese engineers? Also many parts in the F-16s have digital seals and only Lockheed Martin can gain access to certain parts of the plane.
Bhai.
You are right that the Indians would not do that. However although the conditions may not have been specified but they remain common for most foreign vendors. As to why Indian conditions do not get publicized the reason is simply because
a. They have the money and
b. They are needed to neutralize the Chinese. All countries play whore to the US stud. The ones that do not get treated like Afghanistan and Iraq.

Via Pak Def. Pakistan wants eight F-16 Block-52+ aircrafts, 3 OHP frigates and requested the sale of AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters to replace the AH-1F/S Cobras. I was told the same thing by a PAF source a few months ago. Is it likely that Pakistan will exercise the option for the total 18 extra F-16s or buy more surplus ones from the US ?
New Recruit
New Recruit
Addition of atleast 2 more squadron of F-16 Block 52 with active JF-17 Block II and Block III productions followed by J-31 onwards 2020 is the best PAF can get
