Pakistan's defense doctrine does not require it.[/QUOTE]

I think it is time to review the doctrine, as the imbalance of conventional weapons is tilting heavily in favor of India especially Aircrafts and Navy we need to revisit or amend. F16 has become our comfort zone. We have everybody trained to handle it from technicians, to pilots. We have developed the tactics against various planes. The question is can we defend our waters effectively. Can we counter a SEAD operation using F16 or other crafts. Can we protect our Forward operating bases.
One thing which goes against SU35 is that we cannot rely on Russia to supply parts and missiles against India. Same problem we face with F16 or any other plane from USA. By India dangling 126 MMRCA deal effectively cut our chances of buying Rafael, the best plane in market. French have been the most reliable suppliers (except the money part) when it came to spares. India is buying 36 Rafaels but we are out and cannot buy from France. I think that the reason India asked for 126 MMRCA was just to ensure we do not get 2-3 squadrons of a modern jet, and in the end purchasing only 36. Eurofighter is very expensive and one needs 2 Gripen to counter one SU30/35 or Rafael. So now the only option is China. Although will love to have PAF flying Su35 countering SU30s/Rafael from India, Mig29N from aircraft carriers. But which plane will do this role of protecting our AWACS? Our subs from Indian Navy and P8s? Which plane will counter the planes protecting Indian naval assets effectively?

Block 60 is a customer specific platform and is not for worldwide sale. UAE spent entire $3 billion research and development fund of its own for this aircraft.

No Sir, that is not true. Any operator who can buy the F-16's can buy the Blk61 subject to the fact weather the US wants to give that tech to said country. And yes we will get a royalty from that sale, since we paid for the R&D.

In Pakistan's case, we had offered to wave that royalty, but not for India's MMRCA.

The Blk61 is a very different aircraft than the Blk52+ in terms of not only engine and radar, but the wiring and most importantly internal sensors.

Hi,

The Rafale were available from 2002 till 2005

A slow procurement of Eurofighter Typhoon is the best option maybe 72 over 10 years. Its the best twin engine aircraft at this moment for us there are couple of reasons why i feel PAF should go EF way. First our Pakistani lobby is strong in Great Britain compared to USA or Russia, so in event of war we can be much better assured that the supplies come smoothly. Secondly Saudis are already using the aircraft it gives us a chance to train our pilots before the aircraft hit the space of Pakistan. We can ask Saudis for spares and armamet in case of war and if we are feeling the heat from Brits. It uses same armament as f16s. Invest slow but be firm and constant. 72 EF with 100 F16 and 150 JF17s fully operational by 2025 and if everything goes smooth with Chinese 5th gen we can have a squadron or two as well.
Message from father of nation was plain and simple regarding PAF ''There is no doubt that a country without a strong Air Force is at the mercy of any aggressor. Pakistan must build up her air force as quickly as possible. It must be an efficient air force second to none and must take its right place with the Army and the Navy in securing Pakistan's Defence.'
Its the need of hour. No more handicapped options just no more.

The Mirage 2000 deal was nixed during Benazir s 1st govt because of kick back scandal and the high price tag of 60 mill $ per copy for the proposed 40 aircraft.
SU27 was evaluated by the PAF and the then ACM Shamim termed it a super duper aircraft but nothing came of this deal.
PAF also evaluated the Tornado but for some reason decided against it.
The F16 was always in the PAF’S cross hairs ever since the Reagan administration sold 40 aircraft in the early 80s and every attempt is being made over the last 25 years to achieve the PAF’S goal of 110 aircraft inspite of the sanctions and financial constraints.
Once a weapons system is inducted and infrastructure developed it is very difficult to switch off and move to another. PAF has always inducted platforms that will serve its requirements for at least 40+ years. This brings continuity, efficiency and familiarity within the organisation. It keeps the supply chain well oiled to provide spares and maintenance even in the face of sanctions and supplier reluctance to sell to us.
The Sabre fleet flew for almost 40 years as AM Nur Khan managed to purchase sabres from lran and west Germany in the late 60s.
Even when the F16s were embargoed the PAF managed to keep its 40 aircraft servicible by purchasing spares through commercial deals.
We all know about the Mirage procurement from Australia Spain France Libya and Lebanon to keep the fleet fighting fit over these last 40+ years.
When the super7 program was sanctioned PAF started the JFT program and within 10+ years we have 3 squadron worth of aircraft inducted and a further 7 planned to replace the F7s and Mirages.
The PAF must be congratulated for ensuring that under difficult and hostile environment it has remained a viable and hard hitting air force.
Look at Venezuela F16s grounded.
Libya and Lebanon were forced to withdraw their Mirages due to sanctions and eventually sold them to pakistan. There are many other examples but the PAF carried on and now is in the best state of rediness. We must not lose sight of this history.

Having a strong lobby in england doesn't means that the English govt will be willing to do whatever we want ?

Koi Mithai laye , ya khali haath wapsi howi?
I think they just want to know , our needs so , they can prepare a lollipop package when our PM & COAS will be visiting next to USA ?
& it all is happening in the context of , freezing our nuclear asessts or programs ?

. .
Actually America sided with Pakistan in 71 war.. American sent their aircraft carrier to Indian Ocean to pressurize india to halt its aggression but american carrier group was intercepted by russian nuclear subs.
Yes you are right they were siding us but where never ready to enter the battle field in contrast to USSR. The carrier fleet they sent was too late and by that time defeat was certain, until then they were only trying to push others in for them(Iran for example). Unfortunately during that time Sri Lanka a small and weak nation was more helpful then USA.

.
It actually depends on why the tracking is being set forward ?
If its for own safety then that's not a problem in case of Russia ?
If its for , dictation in USA case , that's wrong from our POV?
USA sees , a developing hurdle (india) it can lunch at any time against China , so it will protect it for a rundown effect from Pakistan ?
In that case it can jam or track or even , close down certain level of technology , at a time of war between us & India ?
No one from PAF will ever speak the. Truth , that during kargill , it was demonstrated by USA , that some of our F- 16s , were unable. Even to start their engines ?
Thats why our army never was interested to bring our air force into action ?
This is part of our untold history ?
But we have moved forward from that , today at least our THUNDERS can give hot time to any one trying their will on us ?
But , russian hard ware are still safe for us , cause lot if their ,systems were being studied by our all weather brother China , so I'm sure if ,we go for SU-35s they will fly at any time we want ?
But not just against Russia ?
For them we can still use our F-16s with , whole support of NASA ?lolzz
Whether they'll track them in the name of their safety or just keep an eye the bottom line is they'll know where their planes are. And keeping in mind how the things are unfolding these days we'll be needing them against IAF most certainly and the entire world knows India is more closer to Russians despite the fact that Indians are now eyeing western weapons. Who knows when the war breaks out Russia not only leak the weak points of Su-35 (or any other Russian jet) but the location as well.

I am not against Russia, who knows we become good friends with Russians and they'll make sure there is always peace between India and Pakistan. But until then we should not invest that much in Russian weapons, Su-35 is a really big fish, we can buy them in small numbers but in combination with Chinese flankers. First we should test the Russian waters by purchasing small equipment may be ask for some more Mi-35 or Mi-28 perhaps.
