Option's for PAF ?

.
jf 17 block 3 ??
Block 2 ( which has ifr and a tweaked radar ) is not even had its first flight and you are taking block 3 into account???

Production of block-2 have started and block-3 specs are now being finalized in which AESA is a must have for PAF.

Production started ?? Can you post an image of Block 2
and there is nothing like block 3 for now , and even block 2 is 2nd lot of production with few improvements .

Please keep update your self go to JF-17 thread for info and pics and yes PAF is finalizing specs of block-3 and it will be very formidable leap jump in terms of avionics (AESA radar & may be EODAS).

Can you provide any credible source regarding block 3??

I have told you where to find it as it has been discussed in detail there, I don't want to reinvent the wheel here.

Long range SAMs
More JFTs
HOBS, HMS for ALL JFT
Netcentricity of JFT , AWACs and SAMs

F-16s old/new
J31 in the future

-----------------------
1]AESA for ALL JFT-- is this possible even for older ones? @Oscar

2]Is aesa such an important system that we have to induct a completely new platform [j10b] for it keeping in view that SABR/RACR hasnt been offered to paf ?

Investing in a fifth gen fighter rather than 4.5 gen is understandable... however the years till induction might be many. I hope PAF doesnt go for stop gap measures and takes some initiative

Possible but not needed. The block-I and IIs will essentially be a baseline tier F-7 replacement(although much more capable)...whilst the Block-III will be a high end gap filler where the AESA will come into play.

HOBS and HMS are important for block-IIIs and later block-Is and IIs. Basically, you want your high ends assets to have greater survivability as compared to the lower end punchers.

Long range SAMs will happen soon along with Medium range and short range cover.
F-16s are doable and JFT will continue to evolve, it is already stated that BLK3 will have AESA.

But then you'll need a large amount of 'punching bags' more like 1 on 1 Mirage III/V and F-7 replacement, since the archenemy is getting advanced jets.

That just depends on how long the conflict lasts, and the availability of their jets. So far it took them 10 years to get their MKIs to a 70% serviceability rate.. whilst comparatively the PAF has close to a 80-85% rate even during sanctions for its F-16s. See, just having lots of aircraft is not the only statistic..what matters is how many of those can you get into the air when the time comes.

Take the B-1B bomber, as impressive as it is.. its low availability rate means that at the end the number of B-1s the USAF has on paper arent the number that are ready to fight at any given time.

Bhai Sahab I don't know about RACR, but SABR is available IF the PAF wants it, and when it wants it. No restrictions. I personally checked with the right people.

In continuation of what Oscar said

For people not aware of how fighter aircrafts work, try and understand this: for each number of flying hours, an "X" number of hours has to be spent in the hanger.

For engaging J 11 we dont need Rafale our Su MKI can do that.
I did not said in way which you are representing it, and China will take on EU sooner or later as they are also investing in R&D heavily too. Send you super EF, Rafale against J-11B & higher ones then you will know where EU and China stands. China only lag in engine tech now as US have accepted that China know all about F-35 so how they can be behind EU in that field while they have working prototype of 5th gen jet it means that they are on par with EU in most tech, they are US competitors and EU is far below then US in terms of tech.

This will not be final design as China have presented J-31 version 2.0 in last year in their air show, I have posted those pics in a thread too.

Who need typhoon when JF-17 block-3 (high end version around 30 to 40 mil a piece) can give PAF parity (at least in air defense) till 5th gen arrive.

Well .That is not more than a cheerleading .Even Chinese wouldnt agree that their tech is better than EU.
Mere copy paste and espionage cant substitiute the real experienceor real success and failure.EU fighters especially French already seen a lot of real time war.Ask to your own PA ,aftr all they knows a lot about the mirage from Kargil.
Rafale seen its excellent performance in Libyan war.
What about the Chinese ?AFAIK theirs one and only customer is Pakistan.

You are talking about the US .They know what they are doing.During Coldwar they exaggerated a lots about Mig 25 Foxbat and created F 15 .But in reality F 15 was more better than Mig 25.

Ok Guys , as today we heard the news of IAF getting 36 Rafale ( Fly Away ) condition , that is probably 2 sqs ..
this must have ring some bells in our PAF Official , cause we currently have no Fighter that can counter Rafale , for our block 52's there might be a chance only if we have in numbers ...
so basically in terms of Indo-Pak war , these 2 Rafale sqs will work as 4 sqs ,

so what i want to discuss that what option PAF have and what they might be thinking ?

we are already behind IAF in numbers and now in technology as well ..
Indians will keep saying that these Rafale's is for China , but obviously we must come up with something to counter this new threat in South Asia ..

some of the Option Pakistan may consider are ..

36 F-16's Block 52's from US ..
or
36 J-10B's from China
or
36 Typhoon ? very less chances
or
Nothing ... just invest in some long Range SAM's ..

@Horus @Basel @araz @MastanKhan @DESERT FIGHTER @That Guy @Windjammer @fatman17 @The SC @Thorough Pro

Why do you counter every IAF acquisition ?

The IAF had an availability of 55-57% before the NDA come to power.. And that had been increased to 67%... This happens NOT in. Decade but in a span of. 9months... Give it time and we would have an 80% Plus availability in about two years!!

in that case there was no real threat to fighters nor SAM's nor Fighters.
