Obama whining a result of US decline

We do not really care whether China protests or not, Japan and Taiwan have a vibrant relationship. Taiwanese people can attain Japanese residency , as well as enjoy visa access.Long have we enjoyed positive relations with Taiwan (Taihoku). They are ever close to our bosom, as a former crown colony of Japan.

To Counter Beijing, Japan Moves Closer to Taiwan | The Diplomat
You can try all those empty gesture.

But you have to abide by and not violate your stated prior agreements with China, and not cross the line into meddling in the internal affair of China.

If you do, then like I have mentioned, that would be a REALLY STUPID move.

My dear, China has already violated the 1978 Treaty of Friendship of Peace.

It is to our benefit to develop further strategic relations with Taiwan.

Besides, Japan will never allow Taiwan to fall to the CPC. Never.

Our Nihon friend doesn't understand that the rule is already set on how to deal with the potential Taiwan crisis. We clearly make a rule on how actors should proceed with Taiwan. I don't see why we need to keep talking about Taiwan over and over.

Agreed, I see no point in arguing with boys that suffer from delusion of grandeur also.

Empty threats, don't you understand that we Japanese do not take too serious the threats of Chinese government? Taiwan and Japan , currently, are increasing coast guard communication. The Taiwanese hand over to their Japanese counterparts any instance of cross-over of respective nations' vessels. The level of interoperability between us is strong.

For years Japan had been restrained to further political affiliation with Taiwan because of the 1978 TOPF. Now, it will be necessary for our constitution to include Taiwan into our Collective Self Defense. Ideally, a Mutual Defense Treaty between Japan and Taiwan will be of benefit.

And I think that in the next 1-2 years, we will see the realization of this.

There will be nothing China can do to prevent this.

In fact, China's recent actions catalyzed it.

You don't get it, do you my Nihon friend? We set a rule on how we are going to dealt with the potential Taiwan crisis. It doesn't matter what you or anyone does. It doesn't concern us one bit other than we probably have to beef up even more. That's all. You can do whatever you want. We make our message loud and clear to our American friends or any backer of Taiwan. Declare independent? We will attack. It is that plain simple. Our thousand missiles aim at Taiwan is not a toy.

.
It is in the assumption of many Chinese (supporters of the PRC) that Taiwan will revert to CPC control. Nonesense. It will never.
Taiwan is too much of a strategic value and it will remain independent. The people and culture there is too used to its democracy, only a fool would think that the Taiwanese would give up their democracy for an authoritarian regime , ripe with corruption within its ranks.

Taiwan will willingly, or with a half-heart, join the embrace of China sooner than later. After all, why would they chose to side with an historically occupying regime of Japan that brought many untold miseries upon Taiwan or to an institutionally corrupt and dysfunctional regime of the US? On the other, China's system has proven to be quite efficient and actually delivering results. Tawian's annexation will be the result of one of China's many efficient policies.

Honestly, I come to believe that China has been too soft to Japan, and, for some reason, keeps it that way even today. I just pray our leadership will not move to a more stricter tone toward Japan and our Japanese friends will come to their senses. But toleration will have a limit, apparently. Sadly, as I keep reading you my friend's posts, I come to conclusion that China may have been too docile to Japan. Our favor is not being returned.

But we are thankful to our Japanese partners that they do (perhaps unwillingly) recognize our One China policy, which is in China's constitution. If they retract, they will be punished accordingly. So long as politically a part of Greater China, our Taiwanese brothers can remain as free as they wish -- until we think otherwise. You see it all depends on how China thinks.

The horizon bears much fruit and opportunity for us all.

You look like a one happy family (Japan, US, Europe, the Phil and Viet), my friend, whereas China is sidelined, contained and almost choked -- if we disregard China's alternative institutionalization such as BRICS and SCO, Brics Investment Bank, its pipeline diplomacy, financial cooperation across the world, almost 100 million tourists it sends overseas, Yuan's internationalization, China-Russia cooperation in Syria, Ukraine etc., China's inroads into Latin America, Central Asia and Africa (which dwarfs that of Japan), etc.

China loves to be contained, dear friend :)

I find it interesting that you believe increasing hard power earns you extra allies. All we hear about is China's "rise", and yet with that "rise" China continues to push its neighbors into the arms of the United States.

Is it not amazing? China is in fact having good time as US push countries across the globe into the arms of China. Do you feel yourself more integrated/powerful than you were in the 1990s? What about Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Eurasia?

You really believe you have allies because you promote values that is too great to not have? Than for no reason we keep sharing news China expanding financially and strategically into the core of the Atlantic partnership as well as the US backyard.

China has no influential allies to speak of, and let me be clear, business partners do NOT equal allies

Russia is the second most powerful military in the world and it is China's ally. What ally do you have that can really face up Russia in hard (destructive) power competition? Do not Russia and China do whatever they want in their backyards? Does not that remind you of US conduct in Latin America when it cleared it of from European residues?

China won't pass the US scientifically, technologically, or militarily. You can continue to delude yourself all you want, it ultimately won't change the facts. It also gives me a chuckle that this comes from an American Chinese wannabe.

Keep the faith, my friend. I promise you, you are not in delusion, and all is great for you. You will never be surpassed and your soft and hard power are the best things after sliced bread. You are amazing, exceptional, awash with allies, recovering, and people salivate when they think about you.

It will be used by the great powers to manipulate control of Asia-Pacific. China will never be allowed to have domination of Asia-Pacific. The Great Powers will maintain close links with China in trade, but, in military designs, we will never allow them to have hegemony.

:-)

Certainly they would not like to see China dominate Asia-Pacific. That's what exciting about great power struggle. Just as Chinese have certain desire for future, so do the others. I guess neither is wrong to have certain projections. We will have to wait and watch the hard cold numbers.

Crimea has Russia.

Who do ROC(Taiwan) has? Even US would not protect Taiwan if Taiwan declared independence.

Japan? Japan would do that for ROC(Taiwan)?

Our Japanese friend believes that Japan would intervene should China attempt to annex Taiwan. I wonder what makes him make such a bold statement.

All talk. You've had since 1947 to seize Taiwan, still you have not. My friend, the issue here is capability. The CPC will never be able to seize Taiwan. So long as Japan and the United States are concerned. Never.

Now, you can go back to your theories of when Taiwan will be incorporated into the PRC.

The reality remains, ...well, reality. :-)

Thanks,

Thanks,
Actually, if it wasn't for diverting our attention away in the Korean War, we almost take it back. Also since Taiwan accept the one country two systems, we don't need to attack it. We set a condition for attack and it is very clear. No need, no more talk on it, alright my Nihon friend?

Since you asked so nicely, alright. :-)

@TaiShang ,

I'll answer you later.

No, I'm absolutely right. Money alone will not be able to overcome US preeminence. Money alone cannot foster innovation and the creativity of the individual. Chinas current education system and environment does not support questioning, creativity, and abstract thought. It's why you see so many Chinese wanting to study in our universities. I find it interesting that you believe increasing hard power earns you extra allies. All we hear about is China's "rise", and yet with that "rise" China continues to push its neighbors into the arms of the United States. China has no influential allies to speak of, and let me be clear, business partners do NOT equal allies. Economically speaking, the US will remain a superpower, regardless of China having a higher GDP. China won't pass the US scientifically, technologically, or militarily. You can continue to delude yourself all you want, it ultimately won't change the facts. It also gives me a chuckle that this comes from an American Chinese wannabe.

Nope. You are wrong. Too much brainwashed propaganda installed in you.

Business partners does make you allies. That's part of being in an alliance. China has friends in Africa, Asia, Latin America. US only has allies by the threat of force which is unsustainable as we saw with the Soviet Union. Everyone in Latin America welcomes China's presence to counter the US. Seem to me like US is pushing those countries into the arms of China

US is on the decline rapidly and the regime is struggling to counter the decline which is why the murderous regime is causing chaos all over the world to distract the population from the staggering problems at home.

China will pass the US economically, financially, technologically and militarily.
Bookmark it.

You my friend is the one deluding yourself as your brainwashed mind cannot see the decline of the US.

Sure it does, but the US economy is not in decline, it's actually beginning to rev back up again. It's the Chinese economy that's in decline as we see your growth continue to drop year by year. China also faces an upcoming demographic crisis which will shrink the workforce, and China will have the oldest population in the world by 2030, which puts an immense burden on your health and social programs. My point was that China will never be able to exceed the power of the US military. Money is just one factor in the grand scheme of things. We have the experience, the atmosphere that cultivates innovation and creativity, and the know how to further scientific and technological advancement. China has nothing that can compete with an agency like DARPA. It is agencies like DARPA and our world class universities and defense companies that will always give us the edge.

Chinese innovation (DF-21D) has made the entire US carrier battle groups obsolete
And no, the US has nothing to counter the DF-21D.

US population is one of the fastest ageing populations and will increase the welfare budget and drain national resources. China can and is going to raise the retirement age when its needed to reduce the burden. US cannot do that due to politics.

Money is everything to determine other aspects of hard power (financial, technological and military). Without money you have nothing. Money is the foundation.

US economy is a disaster which can't even grow 1% even with 6 years at 0% interest rates, trillions in QE, and bubbles created everywhere. The US is a massive ponzi scheme pretending to be an economy. Chinese economy is restricting and still growing multiple times faster than the US from a massive economic base.
