The options for PAF regarding a 4.5 gen jet is now Shrinking having Rafale deal finalized by India and SAAB and USA already lobbying for there Grippen and F-16s and F-18s. Our entire inventory is obsolete in front of rafale and to tackle that and maintain a reasonable balance of power there are two most attractive options for PAF now.

1. JH7B
2. SU35

JH7B is easy to acquire, few tweaks for PAF and a complete strike fighter with a massive radar excellent fuel carrying capacity is ready to unleash hell on enemy, can strike deep into enemy territory with hell lot of bombing load. JH7B can perform naval missions perfectly no need to modify JF17, JH7B is already ready for this roll.

SU35 can come to Pakistan now, bright chances after mmrca deal is now done. we can go to Russia and acquire this jet. If India can reject Russian Jets, Its a good time to make some diplomatic moves and make arrangements to get this amazing jet.

. .
Its a rather simplistic analysis but let me add my two cents to further the discussion.

JH-7B: Its more of a stop-gap measure and chances that even China might induct the B-Standard or upgrade existing platforms to it are limited. The jet is already well-advanced into its service life and even with the upgrade that the B supposedly brings to the table, it will not be a very competitive bargain. In contrast, the more recent projects including Chinese Flankers are a more alluring prospect with great potential for Pakistan to expand its own fighter portfolio as well learn from Chinese technology.

SU-35: Highly capable and versatile but the cost (we'd be able to get few birds), establishing of new service and overhaul facilities as well as Russian interests in India make it a bit of a gamble. Despite recent setbacks, India remains Russia's largest defence export customer and even if they ceased buying anything today, their existing armament is enough to feed the Russian defence industry through parts, service and upgrades for the next two decades.

The Rafale isn't some Godly fighter jet. I am fairly certain our F-16 block 52's could handle them. When it comes to buying new fighter jets, I think the navy needs them. Give the navy the Su-35's, meanwhile I think the Air Force can go for more block 52's to counter the Rafale, or event try to get a 5th gen fighter. I heard Pakistan has interests in the F-35.

so in simple words now we have nothing to put up against Rafale.

How can you even think Uncle Sam will give us F35, and coming back to block 52s brother they are no match for rafale.

You are right brother.Every serious person of Pakistan is thinking same. Su-35 is the best available option for Pakistan as in reply oh 36 Rafales we have 36 Flankers.Chinese fighters are late so PAF wont need to wait for them . Rafales will be deliverd to India in 2018 Pakistan has time to think upon and take decisions ASAP as discusions will also take time and it will be difficult to induct Flankers upto 2018. JFT is a good fighter but cant able to face rafales . I think its time for Pakistan to step ahead and shake hand with Russia.

Regards .

PLZ no more block 52 I think we should leave relying upon F-16s now......

Air Chief Marshal has said that " We are in talks with Lockheed martin for latest F-35 " And surely after India Rejected American jets in the MMRCA then they will give us F-35 easily.....

Exactly, how long we will pray these F16, time has change, go to Russia at least make a formal offer about SU 35.

. . . .
Another good option is J-15 with low cost and large numbers,...What do you say....???

Hmmm...
But we should go for The Best in flankers, that is SU35s,

And with 60 of JH7Bs it will be a fighting giant force having strong teeth to show.

Yes they are. The F-16 is the worlds most potent dog-fighter, and the latest F-16's have got incredible BVR capability. The block 52's can handle the Rafale, especially when you consider our pilots are far superior to India's. Although, I think we should go for the block 60, or maybe even the F-16V. I mean, block 60 is considered a cheaper alternative to the F-35.

The JH7B is not an option for PAF.

SU-35 is one that could be attained and numbers can be added by J-11D's or some other variant. However this can be practical for PN but not PAF.

PAF is more towards getting a Fifth Gen Aircraft hence they are looking at F-35 and J-31's.

IAF can afford to get an other 4.5 Gen aircraft because it has to replace almost all its 3rd generation aircraft in a very short period of time. More over they also know that the T-50 PAKFA and AMCA both are good 10-15yrs away.
