Norwegian mass killer Breivik gets admitted to University of Oslo

mass killer... which is one of the things he was sentenced for in court.

Also, do you want me to site sources of events where a "Muslim" mass killer is NOT referred as "Mass Killer" BUT a "Terrorist"...again a dichotomy at its best which is so apparent but for some too hard to see.

.
Instead of wasting energies on banning headscarfs, halal meat or mocking others religions,
Are You Kidding me , i m a muslim and 2nd no one is banning any thing in Norway

An extremist terrorist who planned his act precisely and carried it with vengence to kill almost one hundred innocent Norwegian childeren is not just another ordinary criminal.

His extremist terrorist act was extra ordinary in kind. So should be his punishment. Exemplary, so that the others who think of him as a hero would know what is waiting for them, if they were ever to follow him.
He is a terrorist , who killed tons of innocent one But he should be punished hard as possible but , chopping heads leaves you no where instead it spreads even more hatred against gov and society , just tell me If he was shot or hanged Will this bring the dead back no , But Killing him would have made symbol and the best course was chosen

The critique is aimed at west not just Norway. If you would happen to broaden your discernment, you'll realize that Norway represents only one piece of the puzzle which adds to the rest to form 'western sanctimony' at large.

How about doing only few things instead of taking drastic measures such as "chopping off head" etc? How about forcing him to solitary confinement or putting him in the mental hospital forever etc? Or perhaps if you want to do something really right, send him to Guantanamao. The prison set up by the "most enlightened" Western country for the most hardcore terrorists. No need to worry about human right abuses there, ;-)

I mean allowing him privileges such as getting admitted in the university after destroying hundreds of families is not something that should ever happen.

His despicable act classifies him above "ALL THE REST" and this anomaly you are not able to feel and or see...
I guess yoiu know better than the Norwegian Judge.

I want you to not behave like a child.

I did not claim that. You see the question is about the moral predicament and double standards of the west ... that is the whole debate is about so if you differ on this then please explain why so? ... unfortunately this behavior manifest and come to limelight in cases as the OP among others.

I want you to not behave like a child.

I didn't get it; why are you not able to fathom the issue here...why don't you see the bigotry based on religion and race here...

Again the scope is broader (not specific to Norway).

When Gitmo is going to be declared as off-shore campus of University of Oslo?

Or getting educated is only the right of the white terrorists?

There is no moral predicament. The Norwegians are applying their law, which is the law they've democratically made for themselves, and in accordance with international law. There really is no issue there. WTF do you care (and what business of yours is it) if Breitvik tries to keep busy by getting a degree, while he rots in jail.

As for double standards, I think there are so many live-examples here on the forum of people with double standards, western and non-western alike, that it really is a dead horse as far a discussion goes.

But I'm sure that that too will be considered propaganda by folks here who can't stand others having different ideas or opinions from theirs..

Besides, for an idea of how other European nations deal with jailing terrists, do look into Baader Meinhof group and RAF in Germany, or IRA in UK, or ETA in Spain, or Brigata Rossa in Italy. Or are we too young to know/remember about these?

The law of the West has become jokes: protect criminals from pulishment
Unlike the magnificent law and legal system of the PR of China, you mean?
Besides: what law of the West. Are there any specific countries you would like to addres?

Wait a minute...so he has only 21 years of prison sentence?

Whose extension will be deliberated upon after 21 years?

Damn...what do robbers and single murder convicts get in Norway?

As for the typical punishment in Norway, the max penalty for planned murder, in the first degree, is 21 years, irrespective of the number of counts of murder.

As indicated by another poster, he can be held indefinitely. Under special circumstances, like a murder of severe cruelty, mass murder, or if there is reason to believe the offender may commit murder again, additional years of imprisonment can be given. This is known as forvaring (custody). This usually takes place at a court hearing near the end of the sentence. Forvaring (custody) is not a punishment, but a measure to protect the public.

Damn...what do robbers and single murder convicts get in Norway?

They are forced to read this forum for 8 hours a day, 24/7, all year long.

Oh well, their country, their rules.

Just don't impose your views on other countries unlike 'some'!
