Nine Pakistani Taliban fighters found dead in North Waziristan: officials

MIRANSHAH: Bullet-ridden bodies of nine Pakistani Taliban fighters were found on Monday dumped in the northwestern tribal North Waziristan region near the Afghan border, officials said.

The bodies were found on the side of the road in Peer Kaley village in North Waziristan, a stronghold of militant groups, 10 kilometres east of the district’s main town of Miranshah.

“Unidentified people threw away these nine bodies. No one knows who killed them,” a security official based in Miranshah told AFP.

Local residents confirmed that the bodies had been discovered and a second security official in Miranshah said the identity of the dead was yet not known.

But Ehsanullah Ehsan, a spokesman for the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), told AFP that all nine were Taliban fighters and accused government security forces of killing them.

“We are proud of their martyrdom, soon we will take revenge for this killing,” he told AFP from an undisclosed location.

Officials on Sunday said they had found the bodies of 21 Levies soldiers who had been kidnapped by militants near the northwestern city of Peshawar.

Pakistan’s seven northwestern tribal districts are rife with homegrown insurgents and are said to be strongholds of Taliban and al Qaeda operatives.

Security officials said fighter jets on Monday bombed the Tirah valley in Khyber, another tribal district, killing at least eight militants.

Islamabad says more than 35,000 people have been killed as a result of terrorism in the country since the 9/11 attacks on the United States.

No, not by our men nor by Afghan Taliban, more likely by the divided groups in TTP. TTP is disintegrating due change in objectives of commanders. More news expected in near two three months.

This activity should increase. On one side, the US can help Pakistan hammer these people and on the other, the Pakistani forces, both directly and in counter intelligence mode, should get rid of these people. They are no good for anyone on the planet. I'd imagine that the ISI penetrated within these people and the result is the nine terrorists killed. May be a great chance for the ISI to shine and get these people rooted out of these areas. Both the West and the Pakistanis will appreciate it. Pakistan needs to move forward towards becoming a more tolerant and modern country with better economic situation and opportunities for its people. As long as these terrorist keep killing innocents, Pakistan as a country will keep going backwards and that shouldn't be acceptable to any decent, educated, democratic and modern society

Seven more bullet-riddled bodies recovered in NWA

MIRANSHAH: Seven more bullet-riddled bodies were recovered on Miranshah-Razmak road in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) on Friday, tribal sources said.



The sources said unknown people after killing the seven men placed their bodies on the main Miranshah-Razmak road near Sarobi area.They said that residents of Sarobi village went there and saw the seven bodies, but they were not able to recognise them.



The villagers said all the seven men were shot dead. They said some of the bodies had several marks of bullet injuries.It was second time bullet-riddled bodies were recovered in the volatile tribal region during the past few days.



Nine bullet-riddled bodies were recovered a few days ago from Mir Ali subdivision. The TTP spokesman later told reporters that those nine men were their fighters and in the custody of the security forces.The security forces however didn’t react to this claim made by the TTP spokesman.
