Muslim Punjabi Tribes and their origins

On lighter note I think the invasion should be westward now from Pakistan for a change :-)

You mean your family kept record of your migrations for 700-800 years? o_O
Of our clan to be specific. Roughly 700-800 years...3-4 migrations across 3-4 states. My village specifically was not part of 4th migration. We never changed surnames/gotras. Jats at least on Indian side don't. I can point with good accuracy from where and when those migrations took place. Plus we have some stories of why also.
Hindus keep a record of family tree though sadly this is not much emphasised now. Its like there would be a small bhat/book keeper community which will keep record of their region. The person used to come in village and note down all births etc. It will be maintained across generations. Plus jats had practice of ancestor worship. So ancestry was and is important to us. When I was a kid, I remembered names of great grandfathers of last 8 gens...forgot now but detailed ancestry can be retrieved through bhats.

It gives many conflicting views and you quoted one of them, and references it quotes are either too old or not credible at all.
True, I have seen many such claims and from my understanding jats are migrations from different regions including northern India. Jats do have slightly higher ne euro genes...

Finally we all are from Africa... Most likely.

Don't troll. I am a Jat. Jats though not having any exceptional documented history but still have passed information across generations verbally. Also historians have made some claims. Jats were most likely migrants. They adopted regional culture. They were never oppressed but not really ruled either.
You are right to some degree.
I am Chatta and what i know is we were sikhs before converting to islam some time around The collapse of Sikh empire. None of our sikh ancestors is remembered and biradari bloodline goes back some 150 years starting from namesake of house Jalal. Weird is that all families in my village are chatta and our village is named Chak Ghazi. Compared to all nearby villages which are all named for sikhs we know nothing about. I am dead sure we didnot migrate. Same goes for every house. Our Lineages go black a 100 years back or so.
Another thing i heard was that we migrated from south west.

1.So are most punjabi jatts and rajputs muslim?
2.So what is the origin of my caste which is bais rajput from ajk.

@AshishDelhi

There are plenty of Jatts on both sides of the Radcliffe line.

My question to you is, are there many Gujjars in east Punjab? And how are they comparable to Jatts?

Dogar is landholding punjabi braderi, British used to put them in jatt or rajput category. Some of them migrated from east punjab. Majority of them are muslims but some are also sikhs
yes sir
thnx for reply but i have found exactly same on google myself
dont get me wrong i was trying to get deeper
e.g
Dogars basically are from herding casts of kshtariya origin
others trace them from pandavas who later migrated to pakistani punjab
i was wishing if some one could draw their actual family tree like someone did with arrains up there
thnx

With all due respect, nearly every Pakistani Muslim tribe seems to have invented a story of being descended from Arab soldiers. Now I do not dispute that some may indeed be, but every single one of them..? Seeing the genetic results for the Pakistanis that have done DNA tests, I haven't come across a single one who we can say for certain has much "arab" ancestry.

It's sad because of this childish attempt to link themselves with others have made them forget their own glorious past.

P.S. Don't consider this an attack on the Arrain, most of the ones who claim Arab descent are in the same bracket, including the Awans from whom I come from.

Then where does all the Arab and Turk invaders vanished ? And from where this religion Islam came ? Does they (Arabs and Turks) whispered something in ears of local Hindus and ran away back to Arabia and Central Asia ?

Chaining ancestry in Islam is one of the big crimes. I don't think anyone changes his/her ancestry in Pakistan. There are people who call themselves children of local bloodlines and feel no shame and there are others who claim foreign blood lines. There is no reason to negate them. If you are doubtful about yours, you can have some test, like DNA.

We do have Arab blood lines in Pushtun tribes, like KakaKhails and no one point fingers at their claims. There are Awans in my area, from South Waziristan up to Kalabagh and they claim foreign bloodlines and we never point fingers at them.
This pointing fingers culture is mostly in Punjab.

Ah man, my mum's a yousafzai dad's a Boraki khattak. I know about almost everything about my tribe Khattak, but close to zero about Yousafzais. All I know is that Khattaks and Yousafzais have shared a bitter history, and still got some sort of tension. Yousafzais and their allies are bit uptight with Khattaks and their allies (Afridi).

Khattaks are theorised to be descendants of Bani Israel, while Yousafzais are said to be descendants of Alexandar The Great. This makes sort of sense to me. Pure Khattaks have egyptian features (hairy, thick brows etc with brown to fair complextion) while Yousafzais (pure ones) tend to have fair complextions with Greek like features.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, specially on Yousafzais. I'm not well versed on my mum's side.

Oh thanks, man...I will see and try what I can dig out more regarding Yousuf

So you are only half memon?

I m not memon....I m Urdu speaking Yousufzai Pashtun...My Dada and dadi both were from India, migrated to Pakistan in 1947.....My mother also belongs to Khan family...Nana (Rasheed Khan) also came from India in 1947

Khariat? Bari shiddat se pocha aap nain? :D

I have recently came to know that I m yousufzai...My father told me...I know nothing about Yousufzai except that they are one of the tribes of Pathans (Pakhtoons)

Ahem ahem rishtay ka chakar lagta e lol

 :disagree:

I have noticed that there is a very much interest of many members to discuss about Punjabi muslims so why not lets list and discuss Muslim Punjabi Tribes and their origins.

Arrains: Almost all of them are sunnis and they claim their descent from Syrian soldiers who migrated with Mohd. Bin Qassim from a town in Syria called Areeha ( in english "Jericho" ). Areeha was considered military district of Shaam region. It can be an exaggeration to their claim but one has to look into the research done about them. i read at wikipedia that there some people who think Arain are sub caste of rajputs but I think it is nonsense & some says that arains are persian origin race and Kambojahs are there closest cousins in this regard but again i dont know any kaamboj so i dont know their habits.

1. B blood group is common among them.
2. Most of them are sunnis muslims
3. Most of them live in Punjab and many of them are also living in Sindh
4. Mian, Chaudhry, Bhutta & Meher are common titles found among them
5. They dont have any sub tribes and castes.
6. They are small Landowners. Mostly grow vegetables ( in jokes people always talk about arrains and onions ) The place i mentioned in the introduction from where they originated it is called Areha in arabic and in English its called Jericho. I found out that the people there r into farming so may b there is a clue but then i can be wrong because many people in India are also into agri business too.
7. they are also famous to be in angry mood. ( an old sikh lady told me that Arain badday daadaay honday ne & when i told her that i am an Arrain she was like speechless and said pehle kyun nai dasyea ) i was laughing too.
8. They try not to marry into other tribes or castes but this is a trend of every tribe in Punjab or may i gues everywhere especially in muslim world. ( once a Syed Gillani girl told me that they tend to marry in Pathans and Rajputs and they see others including arrain as a low tribe)

This is what i have found so far please enlighten me with your knowledge of all other Tribes. It will be better if you tell some traits of the tribes as well thank you :)

Stop propagating Wikipedia bs written by wannabe Arabs citing wannabe Arab as source. Arains has nothing to do with Arabs, if you have any doubt then get your DNA tested, it's quite easy now. Initially anyone changing religion was thrown out of society and cast system and was considered low by main stream, that's the reason people tried to invent stories.

No matter how deep you dig, you will find two origin theories. One Children of Israel and second Greeks.
Most old people link Pushtun tribes to lost tribe of Israel, and this concept is very strong among tribes living in FATA.
