Jaag Punjabi Jaag

Gujjars in Sonmarg, Kashmir Valley

Being a Kashmiri yourself, you should know that Sonamarg itself has no permanent settlements. Every year in April-May, more than two lakh people from the nomadic Gujjar tribe and Bakarwal tribes arrive in the meadows of Kashmir and parts of Ladakh from Rajouri and Poonch districts and other areas of the Jammu region with their flocks of cattle and sheep

Well, your mother might have had her wishes, but not all of us are ditching Punjabi. Many of us still chat away in Punjabi at home, and with anyone who gets it.
hahaha i can speak punjabi nor was it banned in my house hold.. but we shall see in 20-30 years, what becomes of it!

.,.,
People who say that Nawaz Sharif took the public money, but he also delivers.
I have an innocent question for these people. If you give 100 rupees to your servant and he takes the deal of 40 rupees and puts 60 rupees in his pocket, what will you do with your servant?

Punjab has a history of traitors. Who invited Mughals in Punjab and allowed them to establish a capital? Even today you people celebrate its history as if they were your own people. Not only you sold your women, you sold your land to them. There is a reason why many of you claim ancestry from other races. In the streets of Punjab you will find people who even have a Mughal surname. It is also written all over history books that Punjabis use to shower roses on foreign invaders on the banks of River Ravi.

Your so called Kashmiri resistance in 90's was on back of same brainwashed punjabi militants from across the border. Do not talk about slavery while being slaves of hindus to this day because your ancestors were too coward to pick up arms in 1948 war.

Nawaz Sharif backed establishment has once again started Jaag Punjabi Jaag strategy. Twitter handles are promoting speaking of Punjabi language and preserving Punjabi culture. While promoting the language is a laudable pursuit but promoting hatred against Pashtuns and Afghans is a negative trend. Probably the reason is that Imran Khan is ethnically Pashtun and the Sharifs think that if they can create a wave of Punjabi Nationalism, they will get extra votes in the elections in each constituency and thus make their government. However, this will have far reaching consequences just like the creation of MQM to counter PPP. Poor Pashtun/Afghan labourers and shopkeepers will bear the brunt of this campaign and many will be forced to leave their homes and places of business but this will create hatred in their minds and as a result all of them will vote en-bloc for PTI as it will save them from PMLN and Establishment.

If the Pashtuns/Afghans could deal with threats from the British Empire, USSR and NATO, then they will be able to deal with this internal threat also.

It's rather contrary. Remove Imran Khan as a party head of PTI and bring in some non-pushton. Then send PTI into polls. PTI might still grab some seats from Karachi and Punjab but as long as a non-pushton heads the party, KPK won't vote for it. For Pushton, Imran personifies a Pushton at the epitome of political landscape, a prime minister, something that hasn't happened after the Ayub era. Even wonder why cargo trucks still carry the pictures of Ayub? Because Ayub Khan was the last Pushton at the very best of politics.

I have heard that Ayub Khan removed restrictions from inter-provincial movement of Trucks.

In the 1960s, a strand of truck art in Pakistan began to incorporate politics.

Heavily painted portraits of Pakistan’s first military dictator, Ayub Khan, began to emerge on trucks which were mostly owned by transporters from Khan’s home province, the NWFP (present-day Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).

Ayub’s regime was largely secular-nationalist in disposition and his state-backed capitalist policies had triggered rapid industrialisation in the major cities of Pakistan.

Though the transporters too, had benefitted from these policies, their homage to him (on their trucks), had more to do with the fact that he belonged to their province and had encouraged the migration of labour from NWFP to the booming metropolis, Karachi.
