Justice Muhammad Munir Paracha of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) here on Monday issued notices to former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former minister for interior Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and former secretary interior Syed Kamal Shah in the Rs 70 million compensation suit filed by Khalid Khwaja.
Defence of Human Rights Chairman Khalid Khwaja had filed this compensation civil suit for his alleged abduction in 2007 when he was kept under detention and cases were registered against him.According to Khwaja, all the cases against him were fake and mala fide and the government could prove nothing incriminating against him. He also said he was detained on the orders of former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf and former government functionaries were responsible for the miseries he had undergone for the crimes not committed.
The court would resume hearing the case on July 02. In another matter, Justice Syed Qalb-e-Hassan of the IHC would hear the habeas corpus petition filed by Khalid Khwaja on the alleged abduction of his elder brother Shah Abdul Aziz, a former MNA and vice chairman of the Defence of Human Rights. The petitioner suspects that his brother was being kept in illegal confinement at the Abpara police station.
As per details furnished by the petitioner, Shah Abdul Aziz came to Islamabad to meet former Lal Masjid Khateeb Maulana Abdul Aziz on his return from Saudi Arabia. After the meeting, Shah Abdul Aziz was leaving Maulana Abdul Azizs residence when some unknown people kidnapped him along with Fidaullah, who was accompanying him.The petitioner has alleged that the authorities failed to take any action whatsoever. Moreover, despite the repeated requests of the petitioner, the officials did not register an FIR.
