The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem issued a fatwa prohibiting dealing with US President Donald Trump’s “deal of the century” and its promoters, Ma’an News Agency reported.

Sheikh Mohammed Hussein released a bold statement today declaring whoever negotiates with the deal a traitor to God and His Messenger (pbuh), and to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem and Palestine.

He stated that Trump’s so-called “peace plan”, which flagrantly violates international law, robs Jerusalem of its rightful owners, and deprives Muslims of their third most important holy site and the path of their Prophet.

It stipulates that Jerusalem is the “undivided” capital of Israel, while Palestine would have limited control over scattered neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem.

For Muslims, Al-Aqsa represents the world’s third holiest site, after Makkah and Medina.

The “deal of the century” unilaterally annuls previous UN resolutions on the Palestinian issue and suggests giving Israel almost everything it has been demanding.

Hussein stressed that the deal also came to nullify the right of the Palestinian people to live on their land in dignity, tightens the hand of the oppressors and supports them, as well as giving Israel most of the Palestinian land “scented with the blood of the noble martyrs”.

Hussein continued: “It is flirted with sins, misdeeds and crimes, imposed by one party, and inconsistent with the simplest degrees of noble values, which confirms that whoever plans or supports this brute aggression, or is silent about it, deserves the curse of God, his angels and all people.”

In his fatwa, Hussein called on to the whole world to work hard to stop the aggression against Palestine and sanctify it and its people, and support them, and refrain from working with this unfair deal, which is full of crimes and racism.

Yes, but you cannot blame the Palestinians for reacting with it the only way they know how. How can there be a peace deal, when absolutely nothing is offered to palestinians who are a party to the conflict (i.e. occupation, because conflict happens between two equal sides.)

Imagine if KSA, UAE accepted Indian theft of Kashmir wholeheartedly, then MBS and MBZ went on a leisurely trip Sri nagar, how would Kashmiris react?

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, has not been granted a visa to enter the United Arab Emirates to attend an international conference.

Hussein was scheduled to arrive on Sunday however the delay in issuing his visa has left him unable to attend.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has raised the predicament with Emirati authorities and claims that the matter is being dealt with.

The UAE backs ousted Fatah member Mohamed Dahlan who opposes current President Mahmoud Abbas’ rule.

Israeli-Emirati relations reached new heights in 2018, against the backdrop of Israel’s efforts to normalise ties with Arab countries.

In August, Israeli journalist Edy Cohen claimed that an Emirati pilot participated in the bombing of Palestinian targets in the besieged Gaza Strip during his training on Israeli Air Force F-35 fighters in July.

Cohen also accused Dubai’s Deputy Chairman of Police and Public Security, General Dhahi Khalfan, of being complicit in the assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud Mabhouh in Dubai in 2010.

In addition, Palestinian officials say many Palestinians have been forced to leave UAE in recent months.

Hussam Ahmed, head of the Refugee Affairs Department in the Gaza Strip, told Reuters: “This is an operation of mass displacement of Palestinians in the UAE, especially those of Gaza origins, without known reasons other than security pretexts.”

He said many did not have passports and Arab states would not accept them with the travel documents they have.
