The Turkish Armed Forces have selected the AVCI 1-4x Combat Rifle Scope as an optic for the new 7.62 mm MKEK MPT-76 battle rifle, the manufacturer announced at the IDEF show in Istanbul.

"The 3E EOS company received the order for 200 AVCI 1-4x scopes for armed forces qualification tests a week ago, but we could not unveil the information until today," Engin Ozdemir, the company's vice general manager, told IHS Jane's on 6 May.

"The AVCI 1-4x is to be a standard optical sight for the new Turkish MPT-76 rifle. When it passes the army trial we expect to deliver 20,000 combat rifle scopes to the army", he said. "The Turkish Armed Forces will be ordering 200,000 MPT-76 rifles, which means that every 10th Turkish soldier would be equipped with our sight."

The AVCI (Hunter) is a variable magnification 1x and 4x scope with a 24-6° field of view. It is equipped with a red-illuminated reticule for 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm calibres located in its second focal plane. The reticule illumination is powered by one 3v lithium CR2032 battery with 300 hours of life.

The AVCI weighs in at 650 g and is water resistant to 3 m. Its housing is made of high-strength anodised aluminium with an additional top mount for miniature red-dot sights. It uses optical glass made by the German company Schott.

turkey sticked to 7.62x51mm caliber
MPT 7.62x51
Bora 12 sniper 7.62x51
Light machine gun 7.62x51
all of them uniqe but we can see some variations on same calibers MKE has 4 type of ammo on 7.62x51mm,first picture is for standart rifles M80,second one is for sniper rifles

Sorry I completely forgot about this. What I meant was is there research like 6.5 Grendal and 6.8SPC that has been developed that may or not replace 5.56! Is Turkey doing/does Ammunition research? Or will go with NATO replacement?

Is the rifle being mass produced now? There were some problems with recoil...are those gone?

. . . .
Saw it in one video here in this forum. Turkish soldier firing the gun could barely control it...

At this video The Guy and The Officials(who gave rifle to a beginner for presentation video) have recoil problem not MPT-76 :D

. . . .
Recoil problem ? It is a rifle, not a water gun bro.

Bro, TAR-21 Tavor is also a rifle.. :)

That video was just cringe-worthy. Poor Turkish solider guy was all over the place...May be because he wasn't a true solider but a conscript?

And no disrespect intended, but don't you think that "unprofessional" soldiers, which represents a huge part of Turkish military, will not be able to stand, organized, disciplined professional hardened militaries of Europe/Russia etc?

Turkey should build a completely professional army...trained to the highest level of excellence at NATO standards.

From what I know, majority of Turkish soldiers are "part-time" soldiers (conscripts) and not REAL soldiers like that of Russia, U.S, UK, France, Pakistan, India, Israel and so on..

TAR-21 is 5.56, MPT-76 is 7.62, do you see the problem with this comparison? In that video, the MPT-76 appears to be configured for 7.62, based on the size of the magazine.

A full-auto, large caliber cartridge rifles tends to have more recoil than a smaller caliber rifle firing from the same mode - in this case and in the MPT-76's video, full auto.

7.62

5.56

Of course, some operating systems (gas, blowback, open bolt) will have different recoil suppression or magnification effects, so too will recoil buffers or muzzle breaks.

Roller Delay blowback - 9mm

Versus Super V - .45

Despite the larger .45, the Super V operating system has less recoils due to its reduction systems.

Much of the recoil is directed down, rather than back into the shooters shoulder. The end result is a suppressed recoil effect.

With the MPT-76, it's recoil is comparable to existing 7.62 rifles such as this SCAR-H:

In the grand scheme of large-caliber rifles, the MPT-76 is normal and well-within the normal operating capacity and specifications of other, similar rifles.

Kale's 7.62 DMR seems to be using a one piece monolithic upper receiver, very much like it's competition
