Most in China Call Their Nation A Democracy, Most in U.S. Say America Isn't

Republic of China was one of the earliest Asian countries which adopted democracy after Qing Dynasty in 1912 and it was a disaster, that's why it was deserted.

They don't, most of the Chinese does not even speak English. How would they know what the English word "Democracy" mean??
Americans speak English, maybe this is why most Americans don't think US is a democracy.

It's a mind trick, and that is the problem.

Because you are being labeled as a democracy, there's a sense that you are already a democracy, despite on the street, the thing is different.

Because you are not being labeled as a democracy, you feel you lack it and you fight for it, and you are actually fulfilling it.

And secondly, it's systematic.

There's a difference between China's community democracy vs the West's individual democracy.

Community democracy is simple, to listen and to fulfill the common needs and demands of all people, which is for China to be developed and wealthy.

Individual democracy is... does anyone here able to satisfy anyone? Every single individual? The answer is definitely not, because human is complex and that will lead to a never-ending conflict of interest between individual, and unluckily, the government is in the middle between two individuals, groups, and more.

And the way how democracy is executed.

In the West democracy is centered on politicians, and people choose the one that "listens" or is more likely to "listen". While in China democracy, it's centered on people who really can work and fulfill people's needs and demands.

This one is tricky. Because the process of democracy is first to listen, then to work, and finally achieve it. To work, you need to have discipline, be authoritarian, and all the elements of good organization. You need to be autocratic to be democratic or to fulfill the democracy, the people's needs, and demands.

Is China an authoritarian country? The answer is yes, that's why is not so surprising if China has a high democratic rating and high people's satisfaction. Because it's the authoritarian that is able to achieve something and get the job done. Very tricky.

I think the most visible case is during the covid handling.

What is people want? No covid.

And which country is actually fulfilling it?

Is the one who is fulfilling it not a democracy?

Or is the one who is unfulfilled a democracy?

If you are not listening and unfulfilling people's needs and demands, can say you are still a democratic person?

But if you do, listen and fulfill people's needs and demands, can people say you are not democratic?

Only politicians who say can YES!

Some argue that dying from covid is what they want, therefore they are democratic.

How pathetic that only the politicians call their country a democracy while the people think the country isn't.

The US is not a democracy, there is a two party illusion.

The Democrats would not be considered a 'leftist' party in Europe, both parties are financed, hence controlled, by the Corporations.

And AIPAC controls everything else.

.
The West used to call themselves the "Free World" during the cold war. They only borrow the slogan of "Democracy“ from the "Soviet Bloc" after the end of cold war.

.
Well, consider that Democracy did not actually exist, no country in this world can claim theirs are democracy. If a country have a functioning government, that country is NOT a democracy, that is what 3 years of college in international politics has taught me.

On the other hand, US were technically NEVER a democracy, United States is a republic with democratic value. But the ruling and the establishment of ruling is never a true democracy. EU or UK style majority government are technically more democratic than ours Bi-Partisan government.

As for whether or not China is a democracy, sure, if democracy mean Leader is supreme.
Best post in this entire thread.

America is fake democracy, Americans themselves know it very well, only brainless cheerleaders for US don't seem to know.

China is a very hybrid system. It is a one party system with democratic elections within US is a elections for all but electing the same fckers serving the same lobby. So eesentially both are not true democracies.

Try contacting China Urine Therapy Association (CUTA) and check if they have a cure for your piss fetish?

If the infamously bitter taste of Chinese traditional medicine is already bad enough to turn you off, just imagine that there are 100,000 people practising urine therapy in mainland China - at least according to claims by members of the China Urine Therapy Association.

For many of these urine drinking practitioners, what the unitiated may see as a strange practice actually holds many curative effects.

For 79-year-old Bao Yafu, urine therapy is just another daily routine: he drinks three cups of his own urine every day, and even washes his eyes and wipes his face with it.

“In these 22 years [of urine therapy], I never caught a cold. My eyesight has become clearer and I don’t have any age pigment,” Bao told local newspaper Wuhan Evening News, also revealing that a medical check conducted by a local hospital recently showed that he has the bone density of a 30-year-old.

Bao, the chairman of the China Urine Therapy Association, said that the group has over 1,000 members from almost everywhere in China except for Tibet and Ningxia provinces. The organisation claims that it is “a non-profit non-governmental organisation for the common wealth recognised by the Hong Kong SAR government”.

One of the requirements of joining is to consume urine and promote its healing effects. The groups' membership fee is 20 RMB (HK$ 25) per year, and around 100 members gather once a year to share their experiences.

According to the China Urine Therapy Association's website, the "theory" behind drinking urine lies in the fact that the fluid differs from excrement, and comes from the circulation of blood which absorbs nutrients in food and is therefore a “genuine metabolic product”.

“Urine comes from blood. Its chemical components come from blood and equal those of blood. The urine from a healthy person is sterile,” the website reads.

The site claims that urine has both antigens and antibodies, and by drinking urine, one can reabsorb these substances and improve the body’s ability to fight diseases. It also argues that because the components of urine come from the body itself, urine “works better than synthetic medicine and has no side effects”.

Chairman Bao is far from the only member of the China Urine Therapy Association to claim that drinking urine has improved his health.

According to Wuhan Evening News, a 21-year-old man named Xiaoliu told the newspaper that urine therapy cured his hyperthyroidism.

Xiaoliu was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2010, and took subscribed medication for a year and a half but stopped because he felt it “had no effect”. After learning about urine therapy on the internet, he decided to give it a try.

In his first two attempts to drink urine, Xiaoliu threw up due to its strong smell. But gradually, he became used to it and began consuming anywhere from 100 to 150 millilitres per drink.

After a year, he went for a medical examination and the results showed that his thyroid figures had all returned to normal.

Xiaoliu’s doctor refuted these alleged curative effects, insisting that Xiaoliu's recovery should be attributed to his medication.

“He was treated here by me for almost two years, and had been taking medicine for hyperthyroidism and liver protection," the physician reportedly said. "Every month he came back for a medical check and got better so reduced the amount of medicine until he was cured.”

Despite this refutation, Xiaoliu's story of urine therapy went viral on the Chinese internet, leading to further investigations by local newspapers into the practice.

One paper, Chongqing Evening News, interviewed three other members of the China Urine Therapy Association in their 70s and 80s.

Two of them supported urine therapy, saying that the taste of urine was “definitely better than that of bitter Chinese traditional medicine”, and after getting used to it, “was almost like drinking water or tea”.

They also stressed the correct way of drinking urine: “Firstly, you need to leave out the first and the last parts of the urine and only take the middle part because it’s the purest. Secondly, you need to use a glass instead of a plastic or metal cup to better preserve the original flavours.”

However, the other interviewee, 88-year-old Zhou Linhui, said he had been an advocate of urine therapy for 24 years until he fell seriously ill and was diagnosed with renal failure and diabetes.

“When fell ill I found it useless... Why couldn’t it cure me?” Zhou was quoted as saying.

This heated discussion of the merits of urine therapy eventually drew the attention of Chinese Communist Party mouthpiece People’s Daily, which published an investigative report on the China Urine Therapy Association on June 27 - showing that the group is perhaps not all that it appears to be.

The report revealed that the China Urine Therapy Association is in fact only an unlimited partnership company registered in Hong Kong in 2008, with no corporate capacity.

It is also found that the address of the association shown on its website only leads to an old residence in northern China's Tianjin, where an elderly man with no knowledge of urine therapy lives.

Doctors interviewed by People’s Daily said urine is metabolic waste discharged by the kidneys which the human body no longer needs, and that drinking this waste may only add to the burden of the liver, intestines, stomach and blood circulation.

“Five per cent of urine is nitrogenous waste, which is mainly urea, while the other 95 per cent is all water. If the person is ill, there will also be sugar, protein, red and white blood cells and ketone bodies in the urine. Because the toxin dispelled by the body may end up in metabolite products like urine, there is no good in drinking it,” nephrology doctor Chen Wenli explained in the report.

According to Chinese medicine experts, although urine was recorded in several ancient Chinese medicine books as an ingredient for its ability to stop bleeding and cure bruises, there were strict requirements for using it, and it was mainly reserved for minor traumatic injuries.

There is no medical evidence to support using urine as a long-term dietary therapy.

Thats why I say India can never compete with China.

Chinese society is superior to the Indian Hindu one.

Not surprisingly, Chinese public views Indian most negatively after Japan and USA.

But Chinese society Views Pakistan positively at 73% because our government have close relationship.

Chinese dislike of Japan is very different than dislike of India. All Japan has to do to become neutral in the eyes of Chinese is apologize for WW2. That's it. Every problem with Japan is historical and can eventually be solved as the old guard lose power and they decide that a simple verbal apology is less costly than tensions with China. India on the other hand doesn't have historical grievances with China that are trying to be solved, they are actively creating new problems and actively antagonizing China.

No,what the Japanese did to Chinese should never be forgiven and forget, period ! A verbal apology is just a verbal apology of words, means nothing ! The Japanese are inherently evil and barbaric.

I'm very pragmatic. Let's get real. There are very limited ways to punish Japan at this point. Luckily, they're already punishing themselves through their demographics, inability to compete in new industries, etc.

Why forgive? Because it's costless to do so and it is actually an insult against the Japanese to forgive them from a position of strength. Only the strong have the capability to forgive. The weak cannot forgive, they can only tolerate.

These Japanese will come back to bite China definitely when they have the opportunities. They only understand and respect the strength of brute force as did in Tang and Ming dynasties and now America. They are acting now as if they are the victims of WW II and past wars in the last centuries and China is the country responsible for bringing or inflicting the sufferings and humiliations to them, and so they are so arrogant to Chinese to think China owe them apologies and compensations instead. I just don't want China to be the too kind hearted peasant in the peasant and snake story repeating again ! China has to finish the business with Japan with full force not like in Tang and Ming dynasties if Japan ever going to attack or provoke China again, and I think Japanese will just do that in the future as now their gov is saying that they are going to intervene militarily of Chinese Taiwan matters. Any Chinese appeasement policies and practices or 以德报怨 as implemented by Chiang Kai Shek to the Japanese are outright stupid and dangerous as shown in the later 19th and early 20th century between the two nations. Such appeasements certainly will further embolden Japanese aggression and barbarism in the future.

No appeasement lol. Basically verbally say you forgive them while turning the clamps on them privately. There's nothing they can do about it.
