Long March-8 will be reusable

The Long March-8 launch vehicle will be reusable, according to Song Zhengyu, chief designer of the Long March-8 rocket. The first launch of the Long March-8 launch vehicle (Long March-8 Y1) took place from the Wenchang Space Launch Center Hainan Province, China, on 22 December 2020, at 04:37 UTC (12:37 local time).

Did SpaceX invented the grid fin? Nope. A quick google shows a Russian team did in 1950, LOL. Grid fins are part of the launch escape system of Soyuz spacecraft too. So yeah, SpaceX copied Russian.

Those are Soyuz emergency drag panels that pop down for the escape system..not landing fins. (BTW Incase you are still in complete denial the Chinese ShenZhou capsule is based on the Russian Soyuz)

Here is a Russian Soyuz with the same panels

In this Soyuz animation you can see them fold down and eventually disconnect with the fairing. Nothing to do with steering the craft down.

Chinese CZ-2 using Grid fin for steering the 1st stage down.

Chinese CZ-2 using Grid fin for steering the 1st stage down.

July 30, 2019

Launch of a Long March 2C from Xichang last week included a first use of grid fins by China to minimize the threat posed by the spent first stage to populated areas downrange.
...
Gaining more attention was the fact that the interstage section of the launch vehicle, colored gray above and attached to the first stage, included four grid fins with apparent resemblance to those used to guide SpaceX Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy boosters back to landing areas.

When is India gonna follow the way? I never thought people are comparing us to US now, we are just a poor humble developing country, now we are even capable of catching up to spacex. Damn what era am I living in. Lol

Like who gives a @#$% about India?? You want to add backwards Iran too? LOL! They'll both be lucky if they get somebody safely in orbit with only 10 people killed first trying. The Russians supposedly aren't giving them Soyuz tech..like you guys got to avoid that deadly outcome.

I never thought people are comparing us to US now,

Yes, the loudest people comparing are Chinese.

Catch up to SpaceX? LOL! You guys had somebody in orbit and a big budget space agency before they even launched their first rocket. SpaceX caught up to you guys and left you in their dust. Your most powerful rocket, Long March 5, is only slightly more powerful than their first rocket.
