Pak PM is Lata ’s biggest fan

Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar has been extended an invitation to visit Pakistan as a state guest by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

It is an honour very few are truly worthy of. Our very own Lata tai has been invited to fly to Pakistan to meet the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. If things go as planned, she would soon be sitting, in all her glory, with the crème-de-la-crème of the Pakistani PM’s office.

As it turns out, a very persuasive invitation for Lataji to visit our neighbouring country has come from none other than the Pakistani Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani himself.

During a dinner meeting with singer Adnan Sami in Islamabad last week (which Mumbai Mirror reported recently), Gilani raised the question of Lataji’s long-pending visit. “She owes it to her fans in Pakistan, which includes me,” the Pakistani PM apparently told Adnan.

He then suggested that Adnan personally bring her to Pakistan as the country’s state guest.

Obviously, if Lataji visits Pakistan soon, cultural ties between the two countries would go to another level.

Confirming the invitation from Pakistan’s PM, Adnan says, “Yes, Gilani saab has invited Lataji through me. He is a huge fan of hers. So is Nawaz Sharif for that matter.”

As per Adnan’s account, during his dinner last week in Islamabad, Gilani could not stop singing Lataji’s evergreen melodies. It was after that session that the PM extended the invitation for Lataji to Adnan.

Says Adnan, “Lataji has been invited as a state guest to Pakistan. I will personally escort her and will make sure she is looked after properly like a Bharat Ratna should be. Lataji is a national treasure not only in India but also in Pakistan. Just the thought of her visit has filled Pakistani people with a feeling of elation. She must go there. I will make sure it happens.”

While Lataji is yet to take a call on this invitation, the long-standing desire of the Pakistanis to have her amongst them for just one visit, is now on its way to fulfillment.

let our relations grow on this positive note.

The question arises,should she go?
Pakistan has just declined the talks offered by P.Chidambram to Pak regarding Kashmir.
They are supporting separatist movements in Kashmir.
Its a big question.

I think she should. Let's share something positive for a change, after all these dossiers. I recall the audience that Madame Noor Jahan received in India on her visit. Good old days !

Nothing will change if she doesnt go too. India and Pak will not change their mind even if she goes or not.

So she better goes there.
They have shown a gesture, we shouldnt turn our back.

OK if nothing would change then it is a positive point: Atleast nothing would worsen, if not improve. :)

I think she must visit Pakistan.

So, the people of Pakistan are going through one of the worst natural disasters in Pakistan's history, greatly aggravated by human mismanagement or absence of management, the corrupt President is touring countries and here our chootiya PM goes on and invites a singer from the enemy state as a state guest getting a royal treatment at the expense of very people who have drowned / drowning in the floods and left homeless. Not to mention the target killings going on in Karachi. Wow Just Wow! Just when you think you have seen it all!

Time is up for this so called democracy rather DEMONocracy and I guess they know it so trying to make the most of it.

p.s. I got nothing againt the singer but I guess the timing is definitely not right. I hope she politely declines the offer, say maybe due to ill health.

regardless of the reasons,....this is a very smart move to bring the warmth of indo-pak relations b4 26/11!

I understand your pain. She might not be going to Pakistan at this Crucial time. May be later at an appropriate occasion. It is a proposal from Pak PM not a formal invitation at all.

Thats why i doubted,if she should visit Pakistan.
People like you might kill her!

You didn't think to bold the P.S. part which shows your utter bias against Pakistanis.

As far as the enemy state thing is concerned, I didn't know Pakistan was considered a friend in india.

Stop with your hypocrisy, I just mentioned the truth.

We are not getting enough time to help our suffering citizens and this son of a something is inviting singers as state guests. GOD D@M this mentality of leaders.

Its pathetic, the responses of some from pakistan they don't know that so called enemy India is giving chance to Rahat Fateh Ali khan to perform at the opening and closing ceremonies of common wealth games. And hard earned money of Indians is spend on him to host him and we are also paying him millions. This is just for friendship gesture.
