Kerala Govt plans to Ban liquor

I am actually surprised other Keralites here didn't mention it, but I am going to, because a lot of people who have no idea how politics work in kerala is commenting so i will break this down for you lot.

This campaign was started by a guy called V.M Sudheeran. An influential congress member from the Ezhava caste, who themselves have a lot of Liquor barons like Vellapally Nadesan etc.

The MUSLIM LEAGUE and Christians and the communists actually in previous years did not want to do this as the liquor lobby was too powerful.

But the crucial factor is, vast majority of Keralite Women are for prohibition. It was Mr. Sudheeran a Hindu from the Ezhava caste. who started closing down the bars not for Prohibition reasons.

Now every political parties including the Muslim league, Christian groups who were previously against banning commercial trade in Liquor now wants to claim the credit, and oomen Chandy is speaking of a gradual phasing in of prohinbition, which I am sure Mr.Sudheeran never intended,

I highlighted the words, so the people who posted with zilch idea of Kerala politics, can comprehend that.

how is it the start of Sharia law, when it is the Women groups of Kerala and Mr. Sudheeran a Hindu who started pushing this in the first place.

btw, Muslim league I am not a fan of.

You havent seen my post in first page where i welcomed the ban as it will wake up the hindus in kerala from slumber who are drunk most of the time without realizing what is going around them and how they are becoming Second class citizens in their own land.

Like it or not, Muslim league and wahabi parties calls the shots in Kerala,that's the truth.
Hindus in kerala are the next Kashmiri pandits, driven from their homeland to live as refugees in their own country.
You don't fight back you will meet the same fate, as simple as it gets.

Were you not the guy who gave the example of girls in Goa dancing the whole night with liquor bottles in their hands as an example of freedom of a secular society? Now you are appreciating the positive impact of liquor banning? Why now you do not want to be secular and free?

EPIC .. .....he likes to see Goan girls drink and dance.

Mallu girls OTOH have to be good housewifes and only be molested when they travel in bus and at their work place.

His hindu parents have asked him to escape the hell hole and never to come back to kerala. That should give you some Idea.

My understanding is that his elder brother has already escaped to Australia.

to be honest, I thought Women's rights groups are on of the biggest backers of this bill.

as there is a massive domestic violence issue connected with it.

and if you did polling, I am sure the number of women in kerala supporting this measure would touch high 80 percent. And there are more women voters in Kerala.

This is more similar ot the temperance movement in America in the 1920's than anything else in alliance with various religious groups.

Look at the events of past few days -

They fought for pork being served at a function of a school. There was fish for Muslims but they were not content with that and had issue how dare others have pork in their presence

The Vande matram dance was being performed by a group but as usual Islamists got it banished even though they were not the ones singing or performing on it.

Then the advertisement for Muslim/Christians only Jobs!!

Now Islamists got the liquor banished in the state. Lots of people travel to Kerala for vacation and now instead of scotch/beer/whiskey they will only be served coconut water. Cool isn't it?

What's next? Sharia law in Kerala!! Rename God's own country to Allah's own country?? Good luck Keralites, you are going to witness more of such things in the days to come!! These very appeasement tactics of Congress turned the whole nation against them and I am glad they are doing the same in Kerala!! It's about time for Kerala to kick congress out!!

I dont know why you making a big fuss over it just because Muslim league in involved in it.. Banning of bars and reducing BEVCO is a welcome move.. This whole thing started by one leader named, Sudheeran who is a Hindu by religion for your information.. The move was welcomed by woman and many groups irrespective of the religion.. Accidents due to drunken drive have been reduced..Anti social activities due to drinking also been low..Most of you guys just heard the name Muslims League and started criticizing it.. This is pathetic.. Banning of liquor is not an appeasement tactics but a need of the hour.. As from a village I know many peoples life ruined because of liquor..

These guys have no idea about the domestic violent issues due to alcoholism.. Common people here mostly woman are welcoming this move.. All these guys see that it involved Muslim league..Then started the usual rant about secularism, mullah etc etc.. Nonsense..

For modern day Mallus hypocrisy has become the norm. Its the milk they are fed on right from childhood.

You see a certain christian mallu declaring he wants goan girls to drink and dance but don't want the same for mallu girls ..........then you find a mallu hindu professing his love for "secularism" while he is attempting to escape from the "secular" land.

Both these examples tell you the story of modern day kerala.

Who were the worst affected in Moplah riots in 1921?
Now everyone in kerala bends over backwards to appease Muslims, that shows who are in power.
There is no gloating, but hard reality staring you back in the face.

Other major backers are Women's groups in India. There is no religious angle to this case, but there is political opportunism.

Alcohol Prohibition was there even in AP during NTR rule, but was later lifted by CBN in next term elections.
The prohibition was to stop spurious liquor shops which killed many people in AP.It worked a bit,here too the main drivers of Prohibition were the womenfolk who were distressed at their Men getting drunk.
