More than 130 peoples were died after consuming bootleg liquor...
Gujarat had banned the sale of alcohol in 1961,right???...

Gujarat has laws against theft, rape, murder etc ...and yet all of them happen in Gujarat.

The death in 2009 is what prompted the Gujarat govt. under Modi to introduce death penalty for for manufacturing and distributing spurious liquor.

There has been no deaths since then.

Even I was the victim of the same system. We all are.

But the difference is we keep an open mind and keep the spirit of enquiry alive. We fight off prejudice and don't carry a grudge.

I have a problem with people who are so prejudiced that they refuse to see what is in front of them. I have a problem with people who build a defensive wall and hide behind it while ridiculing others and throwing stones at others.

A cup has to be empty for knowledge to flow in. A cup full of prejudice and anger and jealousy and hypocrisy and insecurity can never be filled by the knowledge available on the internet. Internet will only serve to reinforce their prejudice.

Prejudice and anger and jealousy of what? Why should they be jealous of their own culture? Why should they believe so bad about their own people? I never hated my own people even when I was fascinated by the West. Even I went through the phases of atheism and agnosticism questioning everything before me. But look at the example you gave of that lady next to you on the plane ride. She is far far more educated than me. She would have heard the arguments both for and against Modi because that is all the debate has been in the country for the past few year, why is there an inability in her to change?

You give too much credit to people. In society there are "Doers" who form the majority of society, then there are "thinkers" who are much smaller in number and then there are "Doers and Thinkers" who are very rare and they become what we commonly call "Leaders".

The doers take pride in doing what society/leaders ask them to do. They are also driven by emotions that make them prejudiced, jealous, generous, caring etc...

Thinkers often think themselves out of doing much but they ask why and seek answers. They tend to keep an open mind but can still be prejudiced, which will guide their thinking along narrow lines. That is why most people do not "think outside the box". That box is the red line social programming draws for us.

Its the leaders who usually think outside the box and break free of social taboos and refuse to walk the beaten path. They are the unreasonable ones who want to change society. Men like Modi or Dr. swamy.

Its a very simplistic reason for quick explanation purpose. I hope you take it as that.
