After Kerala government announced its plans to ban alcohol in the state, liquor baron Dr. Vijay Mallya is taking preemptive measures to boost his business. The UB Group chairman has decided to use grounded planes from the fleet of virtually defunct Kingfisher Airlines to open bars at Kerala border.

The unused airplanes were turning out to be a big headache for Mallya because even scrap dealers were not ready to buy those, but Kerala government plans forced him to think out of the box.

“Kerala becoming a dry state is otherwise a bad news for the IMFL industry, but we are seeing this as an opportunity,” Mallya told Faking News, “Once prohibition is in place, Kerala people will travel out of state to buy alcohol, and that’s why we are planning to open our own liquor shops at Karnataka-Kerala border.”

“Initially I thought to rent some shops, but then this idea to use airplanes from Kingfisher fleet struck my mind,” he added, “Necessity is the mother of invention.”

To begin with, UB group will be using 10 airplanes and place it at a stretch of 10 km across the border. “That stretch will be known as Kingfisher Barlines,” disclosed Dr. Mallya.

Mallya further disclosed that Kingfisher Barlines will be different from other typical bars. There will be 15 drinking sessions in one day, each session of one hour. For each session, customers will have to book tickets in advance.

“My dream is to make common man sit inside plane at an affordable rate. Book ticket for an hour session in just Rs. 1000 and get 4 beers along with a chance to sit inside a plane,” said former King of good times sharing his dream to reclaim the position.

Each session will begin with a bartender showing customers how to make drink, and measures to take if one gets over-drunk. This will be similar to air-hostesses coming up with safety instructions.

“Fastening seat-belt will be mandatory after 5 pegs of drink. And in case one feels like vomiting, they can use the polybag placed below their seats,” Mallya gave out the details of the new bars.

“Customers sitting in business class will be charged more, and they will get complimentary and unlimited chakhna and namkeen,” Mallya clarified that people shouldn’t expect freebies without paying, like they used to have free pens and earphones in the Kingfisher Airlines.

Sources tell Faking News that the UB Group is having high hopes from his proposed “Kingfisher Barlines” business, and if it becomes a success, such bars will be opened all across the country.

I have serious doubts about how long this ban will last. Sooner or later this farce will end. Its anyway on shaky legs.

If it was't for support by christian and muslim religious bodies, it would have already reversed.

In Gujarat the prohibition works to a large extend because the punishment for loss of lives due to illicit liquor is "Death penalty".

Does kerala have the same law ?

Either Kerala should have the same law or it is only going to keep the ban till the first mass death due to illicit liquor occurs. Which is not very far off.

Without a strong law backing the ban, this is going to turn into a Lottery for the criminals and bootleggers with politicians from all secular parties vying to get their cut in this illegal market.

This in turn is going to give rise to a new criminal political nexus that will create more problems.

So you should be LUCKY if kerala turns into other Gujarat .......... the alternate is not so pleasant. Not that you have the intelligence to understand this.

I think this coma is less to do with booze, more to do with steady brain washing that have turned them into zombies parroting whatever the system has taught them.

Alcoholism is only a symptom of the real problem. But everybody is rushing to cure the symptom rather than the disease.

I was no less a brainwashed person not all that long ago. The internet was my salvation. I actually cried on Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi's death. After Rajiv's death, I wanted to join Congress. My heart thrilled with joy when Congress won 2004 election and TOI carried the headlines QUEEN SONIA KING CONGRESS. So if it is only a matter of brainwashing, a little bit curiosity on the internet should go a long way in bringing one home to reality.

There is a reason why Congress got such a bashing in the country. They have such things in their DNA so why do you think i am wrong if I asume they are upto the same nonsense that they were doing all over India.

I am infact game for the real secularism in the country like equality to all irrespective of caste/religion/color but this is something that parties like Congress are totally against. They created policies while in rule to appease minorities, gave them special rights and once they did that it divided the whole country and now majority is asking for their rights. Do you think they are wrong?

Well Sudeeran is considered as a guy who is more clean than A.K Antony and the issue of closing down of bars was there for a long time.. Many political and community leaders tried their best to open those closed bars but Sudeeran was adamant.. You do not have to look it as congress angle or Muslim angle.. Most of the women in Kerala accepted it as a good news. There was a decrease in crime rate when many of the bars were closed. Domestic violence was very high in Kerala due to booze..It is a good step irrespective of the government.. There is no implementation of Sharia here.. Muslim League was just a part of UDF government who took this decision..

Even I was the victim of the same system. We all are.

But the difference is we keep an open mind and keep the spirit of enquiry alive. We fight off prejudice and don't carry a grudge.

I have a problem with people who are so prejudiced that they refuse to see what is in front of them. I have a problem with people who build a defensive wall and hide behind it while ridiculing others and throwing stones at others.

A cup has to be empty for knowledge to flow in. A cup full of prejudice and anger and jealousy and hypocrisy and insecurity can never be filled by the knowledge available on the internet. Internet will only serve to reinforce their prejudice.
