Peshawar AB, i see the green one flying often. Don't know why they have still kept this one in the green color especially when it is not sent abroad or any aerobatic exercise done with it.
Perhaps it is being kept like this as a symbol, it was the first one to be assembled in PAC Kamra as far as i know. So a flag carrier and suitable for welcome/escort duties!
Looks nice anyways, specially when flying!
The thing that we need to be more worried about and need to be discussing is that PAC and the military overall have been really put on the back foot as far as the budget goes in the past few years! the expenses are increasing so there are lesser funds for future developments. We saw the U212 go, then the AK-II have been on card for so long, the next block modification for JFT are also not going great, no development on FC-20!
of all this, the JF-17 Blk II upgrades are the appropiate thing that need to be discussed here. Unfortunately we might not see an different engine, that in return mean, no increase in hard points/pay load. No major improvement in T/W ratio, and no FLIR.
Most probable the BLK-II will now feature a mid air refueling probe and a bit more use of composites, that will be all!
However, being optimistic, that is also not that bad as it sounds. It is only that most of us were hoping for more but now with government changed (despite the fact i have no high hopes from PMLN and also that they are quite anti-military in there approach so far) things will surely improve a bit compared to last term. With energy crisis, foreign dept and other such national issues in top priority, the military development will slowly get back on track and in three to four years we will start getting some good news (InshAllah). The last five years were perhaps the worst of our history and now we need to get over with that.
