JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 2]

i wana know few thing about jf-17,can any one help.

1-can jf17 load 4 LGBs by using multiwrecks on the secondlast hard point(near to wing tip) under wing.?
2-can jf17 load two RA'AD(cruise missile) at same time under the wing with fuel tanks.
3-does it use its tail(horizontal stablizers) while rolling and turning, with ailerons.
4-why jf17 dosnt hav only leading edge flaps,flaps and horizontal stablizers like f16,su-30 etc..?

can any one answer plz hurry

1. Yes, 250 pound unguided versions sofar.
2. 2 under wingstations with one belly fueltank.
3. No, FBW is not using this as cross control. It is either up or down. No rolling with ailerons like F16 does.
4. Well, that I just do not know...
5. I do not think so. They will need structural inprovements and wiring.
6. It will stay on he almost outer wingtip till next 50. Then it will be on the other side of the canon.

i canot understand where.can u show it,or mark somthing on the picture where pod is fitted.

well i read about stabilators in the wikipedia.org that jf-17 uses it for turns,like f-16 do.

if j-17 can load drop boambs then what is the difference b/w dropboambs and LGB.LGB is guided by laser while DB r free faling but the hooks r at the same place.i think jf-17 can load 4 lgbs along with 3 fuel tanks.

Well, different planes are optimized for different roles and there are different way to achieve what you want.

JF-17 uses LEX to achieve high angle of attack so LEF might not be necessary for it.

very true. in military aviation i do not think things perfectly set a bechmark for the other! we cannot say that the JF17 do not have LEF so it wil have inferior flight parameters. similarly we cannot ay that as F15 have been turned into stealth so we should do the same with JF and so on...

i hope we people can understand this!

thanks for the video, but that's just some youtuber's opinion. He could have added a F-22 if he wished.

Personally, I do believe PLAAF would induct some JF-17- because they have a commitment to it, and you do not commit unless the plane is of utility to you. Secondly, with so many planes retiring and chinese aviation moving so fast, JF-17's will be a cheaper replacement and a stop-gap until China can roll out a mature next generation plane which would be China's ultimate goal in the near future. IMO, it will be a waste of money for China to replace all its planes (even if it aint going to replace the exact number) by J-10 because very soon China will be able to bring out its next generation fighter and would like that to form the back-bone of its airforce.

I also always thought that the twin-seater version of the JF-17 will carry some changes if some further development is in the pipeline. Considering that the final prototype of the single seat version has been flying for 3 years and no word has been issued on the twin-seat version..I wonder why no word has come out yet. That could indicate some possible further development in the twin-seat version along the lines quoted above.

I do not recall where, but I remember reading somewhere that the PT-04 was supposed to fly in 2005 and the twin-seat version a year later in 2006. Yet no news about the twin-seat version has come out yet. I wonder what's up and what are the plans for the twin-seat version considering JF-17 was rather an open project in public eye.

President and Prime Minister briefed on JF-17 Thunder project

ISLAMABAD (January 15 2009): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have expressed complete satisfaction on the operational capabilities and preparedness of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to face challenges regarding security of the country. They assured of meeting all requirements of the armed forces for making them capable to meet any challenge to the security of the country.

They expressed these views here on Wednesday during a briefing given to them about the operational capabilities of JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft, a joint venture of Pakistan and China. Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mehmood Ahmed briefed them about JF-17 Thunder and other projects of PAF. Besides President and Prime Minister, Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar, and Shaukat Tarin, Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance also attended the briefing.

The President and Prime Minister said that the armed forces of Pakistan "are well-prepared" and ready to safeguard the ideological and geographical frontiers of the country.

Zardari appreciated the performance and preparedness of PAF, and assured that the government would cater all requirements of Armed Forces of Pakistan and use efforts to provide them modern war machinery to have deterrent for protection of the country. Air Chief Marshal Tenvir said that in terms of performance, cost-efficiency, supportability and availability, JF-17 jets are better when compared with Indian light combat aircraft (LCA).

The meeting was informed that the JF-17 Thunder is a light weight, all-weather, multi-role fighter aircraft, jointly developed by China and Pakistan. The aircraft has been designed for high performance at low cost. The participants of the meeting primarily focused on defence requirements of the country. They also discussed at length the defence needs of the armed forces and regional security situation.

Pakistan has announced to procure 150, but this may easily go up to 300. The JF-17 will replace Pakistan's MiG-21--derived Chengdu F-7--Nanchang A-5 (Q-5) and Mirage III/V currently in service.

The JF-17 Thunder, also known in China as the Chengdu FC-1 Fierce Dragon, is a single-seat, multi-role fighter aircraft and was jointly developed by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation of China and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Pakistan.

The 'JF' and 'FC' designations stand for 'Joint Fighter' and 'Fighter China' respectively. The first two aircraft were delivered to Pakistan Air Force on March 12, 2007. The JF-17/FC-1 is designed to be a cost-effective aircraft which can meet the tactical and strategic needs of air forces of developing countries. The cost of the aircraft has been estimated from $15 million to $20 million.

This joint venture of Pakistan and China is expected to cost about $500 million. The JF-17 Thunder initial development project was completed in a period of four years. However, later improvement to the project took more time.

The first prototype of the combat aircraft was rolled out on May 31, 2003 and it conducted its first taxi trials on July 1, and made its first flight on August 25 of the same year. Prototype 3 made its first flight in April 2004. On April 28, 2006, Prototype 4 made its first flight with fully operational avionics.

On January 22, 2008, Pakistan started serial production of the aircraft at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra. Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe have each placed orders for procurement of the aircraft. Besides, 8 other countries have also shown interest in the purchase of the JF-17, Defence sources said.
