JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

Just quietly read and learn rather than spamming this thread.

Heat seeking missiles are the SAME as infrared tracking ones. Can u tell me how a heat seeking missile "seeks" heat? It uses IR(hint...it stands for INFRARED) sensors. U know why? Bcuz "heat" is emitted in the infrared spectrum.

As for ur expertise about smoke...regardless of smoke or no smoke...heat can still be emitted...like I said it is just infrared light. So even if u don't see a heat trail with ur naked eye(bcuz humans don't perceive infrared)...a heat seeking missile will still detect it. In order to minimize the heat signature there are various strategies...like mixing cool air to the exhaust flow in case of B2 or heat ablating tiles on YF23. In short even without smoke..."heat" will be there(unless some methods to minimize that heat are used).
Actually the mechanism is totally different
In BVRs.The obove narrated story is now absolute.....
As quoting Wikipedia.
AMRAAM uses two-stage guidance when fired at long range. The aircraft passes data to the missile just before launch, giving it information about the location of the target aircraft from the launch point and its direction and speed. The missile uses this information to fly on an interception course to the target using its built-in inertial navigation system(INS). This information is generally obtained using the launching aircraft's radar, although it could come from an infra-red search and tracksystem, from a data link from another fighter aircraft, or from an AWACS aircraft.

After launch, if the firing aircraft or surrogate continues to track the target, periodic updates—such as changes in the target's direction and speed—are sent from the launch aircraft to the missile, allowing the missile to adjust its course, via actuation of the rear fins, so that it is able to close to a self-homing distance where it will be close enough to "catch" the target aircraft in the basket (the missile's radar field of view in which it will be able to lock onto the target aircraft, unassisted by the launch aircraft).

Thats why AIM-120s type missiles can easily distinguish between aircraft and
Flares....

Were we talking about other methods of tracking? NO

So why are u changing the subject now? U were telling everyone here about how HEAT SEEKING missiles and IR missiles are different...where I told u that no they are not...u got anything on that?

U also had an opinion on smoke from RD93 making it easy for heat seeking missiles to track it...where I told u that eliminating smoke doesn't mean eliminating the heat signature.

So why don't u just give up being an expert on these things...or come back with something solid to back up ur ORIGINAL ARGUMENT instead of deflecting by changing the subject to other methods of tracking?

-.- ..........the AIM-120 is not an IR/Heat Seeking missile. Neither does it lock on to your smoke. What are you talking about, bud? You're confused yourself. How did a Radar guided missile end up in a discussion about smoke, heat, IR signatures and heat seeking missiles? Flares were never used against Radar Guided missiles, Chaff is.

BTW, at distances where BVRs are launched, good luck visually spotting the target aircraft, let alone its smoke.

From his posts it seems like he has been smoking more than an RD93 :omghaha:
@JohnWick put away ur bong and sober up before u reply again.

What a load of crap?
I took pity on your ignorance
All BVRs are guided to the target by radars onboard the fighter/AWACS until the active/passive/semi-active seeker onboard the missile activates.
All BVRs not only used heat seeking infrared systems.
I cleared that RD-93 is our necessity.
But Both russian and Chinese have dubious quality and are smokey with high irst. Radars and avionics again not par with Western quality.... Enjoy truth.:D
The reason why PAF still loves F-16s
instead of silly replies.....you only needed to take a minute to think about it and you would had found the answer on your own.

You keep entertaining others and will not stop humiliating yourself would you ........... The guy who is so ignorant of BVRs IRST comes with words rather than an explanation...... Kindly go and read the Wikipedia article completely, watch youtube videos for better explanation then open the books from aerospace engineering courses, else keep entertaining us...........

Jane's reported over two weeks ago...

Sino-Pakistani JF-17/FC-1 Block III prototype makes maiden flight
Andreas Rupprecht, Mainz - Jane's Defence Weekly
02 January 2020

The first Block III prototype of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex/Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group (PAC/CAIG) JF-17 Thunder/FC-1 Xiaolong multirole combat aircraft has made its maiden flight.

The single-seat aircraft (with serial number ‘3000’) took to the skies on 15 December from CAIG’s production facility at Chengdu-Huangtianba, with the first images of the event appearing some two weeks later on Chinese online forums.

A further development of the Block II variant, the JF-17/FC-1 Block III version appears to be the result of a comprehensive upgrade of the aircraft that is set to include a new active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar.

From the few images that have emerged so far – which show the aircraft armed with two PL-5EII short-range air-to-air-missiles (AAMs) – the most visible changes in the Block III variant are a new wide-angle holographic head-up display – similar to the one used in China’s fifth-generation J-20 fighter aircraft – and an imaging infrared (IIR)-based missile approach warning system – the sensors of which are located behind the engine air intakes as well as on top of the vertical tail fin, similar to those fitted on China’s J-10C fighter.

Were u dropped on the head as a child? Or can u not comprehend simple English? The only person here that was humiliated is u. This is a defense forum son...everyone here knows the basics that u r failing to grasp while acting like an expert.

Additionally u r delusional...u think u r right and everyone else is wrong.
@Thorough Pro @MastanKhan @aliyusuf @Avicenna @krash and I are just some of the ppl that corrected ur BS in just the last 2 pages. I can see why u have remained so dumb that u haven't even grasped the basics...it's bcuz u choose not to learn when someone(or many ppl in this case) teaches u. Instead u dig in further with ur stupidity and hold firm to ur ignorance. With that attitude u r just wasting ur time on this forum. It's a defense forum...one should come here to learn...not to remain ignorant.

sir why you started new threads about this news by Jean's, it can be posted on Block-3 discussion thread
@waz @The Eagle please merge this thread with block-3 discussions thanks

.
I think jf block 3 taking first test flight is an even in itself and warrants it own thread.
We can now guess what features incorporated, and will be incorporated and which might left out, and when it will be operationally Inducted.
Sir for that purpose we have has a block 3 discussion thread already running on PDF,why we need similar/ new thread from start

JF Block III using wide-angle holographic head-up display and imaging infrared (IIR)-based missile approach warning system from J-20, How many more of J-20's avionics can find their way in JF?
With a more powerful and 10% efficient engine it can have > 800nm combat radius, it can strike deep.

only HUD from J-20 rest of the tech tech EW comes from J-10C

Not with S400s across the border, it won't even go across the border.
