Thing is by his own reasoning Japan and Germany should be giving a seat well before we start even thinking about India since both countries dwarf India in ALL FIELDS.

UNSC permanent membership was NOT meant to be a certificate of excellence that you hand it out to the most innovative in ALL FIELDS! If that was the case, China shouldn't have been there when they got there! Even as we speak, at least 2 (perhaps 3) of the 5 members are already hopelessly out of the league if you take economic clout/military might or population as a standard of measurement!

China and all other current P5 members gain their seat because they were the major INDEPENDENT powers/ countries who emerged victorious during the second world war sacrificing millions of lives. In fact the only two independent countries in Asia back then were China and Japan, unfortunately for Japan it lost the war, if not Japan would have defintely being part of P5. But such is history/life. cant always have all we want.

Just because a bunch of countries ended up on the winning side, doesn't give them a right to rule the vast majority of humanity which BTW, lives outside all those countries - bar China! In the last 70 years, UNSC has failed spectacularly to stop many of the conflicts in the ME and beyond - simply because this gang of 5 can't think beyond petty politics and agree on a common good of the people it was originally chartered to represent!

I think the rest of the countries that are not represented (India, Brazil, Japan, Germany et al) should start working towards undermining this "bullies club", in favor of a new system that favors representations from all corners of the world irrespective of their economic clout or whose membership doesn't depend on whether or not, you won some old war.
