They did not commit a mistake. Had they stopped and voluntarily cooperated, then yes, benefit of doubt would be in favor of them. But they tried to escape and had to forcibly detained. That is not a mistake...

But thats normal human behavior. If i would be marine and shot someone who i thought is a threat and then comes out was just fishermen...i would also try to not brag about it and go.
