Israelli oppression of an occupied people

"Israeli man, harassing a Palestinian woman."

The nationalities of these two individuals in question are more than enough to understand the motivation behind this act of public harassment.

I have to disagree.......the reason the Israeli jew is throwing wine on Palestinian muslim woman is that he knows fully well that muslims are not supposed drink or touch alcohol......so his actions are where based on upsetting the womans faith not nationalism.

How do you know that it was wine? For all you know it could have been grape juice! This is exactly what some members have been trying to point out in this thread. Some one posts a random pic and gives his own interpretation to it and all others take that interpretation for granted.

Bezerk’s title- "Israeli man, harassing a Palestinian woman." describes the scene in the pic perfectly.

And just by random pic we cannot justify that the person is a Jew and the women is a Muslim. It can be propaganda to foster more hate among people...

Go to post #63 and you'll find the link to the NYT slideshow where the picture was featured. The caption says "A settler tosses wine at a Palestinian woman on Shuhada Street in Hebron. The approach of some settlers towards neighboring Palestinians, especially around Nablus in the north and Hebron in the south, has often been one of contempt and violence".

Seriously, go over the thread before posting comments! The caption to the pic says "A settler tosses wine at a Palestinian woman on Shuhada Street in Hebron." A settler in Palestine isn't Buddhist or Christian!

The woman could be Muslim or Christian, but the guy is a Hasidic Jew. You can tell from his headdress and tresses.

See man check the pic the way pic has been taken as if the photographer was ready to take the pic as soon as the person throws the wine. There is higher probability of this being staged to agitate the emotions within Muslims as everyone knows what will be the outcome of it. Each and every Muslim would be offended because of this. What would be the intention?

Well that is valid point of course.....

But dont you think media will be much more happy to show a video then just a mere pic of such an incident. Imagine the TRP the news channel will attract from the Muslims watching the video. And a lot news will follow after that....

Whatever it was, It was forced upon another human being and that human being is Muslim women and the monster is a Jew violating her rights and her faith by forcing something down her throat.

To offend Muslims might well be the intention. But that doesn't prove it was staged. Moreover, given all that is going on there, this unfortunately is not out of the ordinary.

In my previous post, I said that we can understand the nature of this incident by realizing the nationality of these two individuals. Once we're able to do that, we can realize why something like this would take place.

The core issue at hand is the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian land which has created a situation where two groups of people with different customs, culture and faith, are living side by side each other in a disputed territory. That is the reason why something like this would occur. The hate for the religion is there, true, but we must also understand the reasons why such hate crimes take place in the first place. A greater ideology is to be blamed for such an act, not just religion.

This could pass off as a religious hate-crime if the Israeli's and the Palestinians were living peacefully side by side each other with complete freedom. But since that's not the case, one cannot simply blame "Religion" for such an act.

Not necessarily.

A picture capturing the moment is much more effective than a video.

You can't use a video in print media; a picture on a website requires less bandwidth and resources (player) from the visitor. Many visitors to the site wouldn't bother playing a video, whereas a picture is just there.

But religion is the core reason for the conflict -- at least from the Zionist side. They justify their exclusive claim to the land because of Abraham's Covenant.
