Okay. Imagine if Pakistan joined Saudia Arabia, Oman, UAE in a political union to make a united ummah titled the "Islamic Union". Would you suppor this. Please vote Yes or NO. And give reasons. Pakistan would be required to teach the language of Islam - Arabic. It would be made national language of Pakistan helping it to fit with the Islamic Union. A road linking Lahore with Mecca would be built using Gwadar as ferry port to Muscat. Pakistan was made for Muslims. This would be the consummation of that project.

* Of course I voted "No". I don't think shared religion is sufficent to bind together this union. Only Arab and Pakistani please vote. And do please give reasons for your vote. Thanks

I voted yes, but with the understanding that this is a start, and it is not a sectarian union. Meaning, over time, the doors are open for other countries to join as well. This goes without saying.

I voted no.

It's a quite far-fetched idea. I don't see any incitement for such an unrealistic idea. Nor do I see why Pakistan should adopt Arabic. Granted, it is one of the 5 most spoken languages in the world and one of the most influential languages in history but Pakistan has its own native languages and as far as I am aware, Arabic is taught in Pakistan too, not only in relation to being the liturgic language of Islam. Many Pakistanis without knowing much Arabic (only a few words) are able to read/are familiar with the Arabic script for obvious reasons.

If such an unrealistic thing would occur, I assume that KSA/UAE etc. would have to adopt Urdu as well. Not have but should. That would only be logical. Urdu is already widely spoken in many parts of GCC for obvious reasons and the language was also spoken as a third language by older locals that lived mainly in Eastern Arabia due to ancient trade relations.

What would make much more sense would be to enhance economic, educational, environmental etc. ties which is already happening with KSA joining the CPEC, working very closely with China etc. There is a lot of potential for Arab-Pakistani relations to grow and diversify. I think all people can agree with this regardless of ideology and views.

Also, why not include all of West Asia + Pakistan and Afghanistan while at it? Would make more sense IMO but it would be as unrealistic given the problems/disputes between countries of that region. No need to mention them here.

No reason , just simple No.

btw adopting Arabic will not be different then adopting gangaiite/Persian called Urdu.

I voted 'yes', presuming that other big Islamic nations like Turkey, Egypt and other will join at a later stage, if not Iran though.

I would have voted 'No' if there are no other countries joining in, I think Turk-Pak relations are more important for Pakistan and vice versa.

But keeping in mind the Iran-KSA/Arab world long history of animosity that seems improbable. And if you look at the deep hatred for Arabs by the Turkish people(Ottoman empire/Osmānīye empire fall) and the backstabbing by the Arabs, Turkey joining in is also highly unlikely.

Just read that Erdogan is visiting Iran these days...good development.

Something along the lines of a free trade agreement can happen. But a dedicated union? lol

.
So king Saudi Arabia will be the supreme leader of so called union with Saudi laws?

Well, thanks for elaborating why you voted no. If Western Europe can unite under European Union why is such a idea "far fetched"? And others could join the union just like EU has expanded.

They only managed to finally unite after centuries of constant bloody wars. Most recently WW1 and WW2 (most bloody wars in history by far where almost 100 million people died - vast majority within Europe).

The whole European Union project is not going as hoped either. Brexit is a good example as well as large economic, political (migration etc.) differences between Southern Europe, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia/Benelux and France/Germany on the other hand. Fears of German economic and political dominance. Spain is falling apart (Catalonia) etc.

Now that is Western Europe. The most politically mature region of the world and one of the richest/most developed and most educated. Now compare that with our part of the world, in particular (in your case - with all due respect) the economic situation of Pakistan and many other basic needs which is also found in the Arab world.

Or the fact that none of our countries in the region are truly democratic societies. I fear that such projects and unions would ensure the current elite/regimes in power to gain more rather than the average people which should always be the goal.

Also unions are outdated IMO. Look at the US and China. Sure, they are competing for influence (especially in China's neighborhood) but their mutual trade is the by far largest trade volume of any two countries. This essentially ensures them never going to war with each other and they are supposed to be ideological enemies who are fighting for economic supremacy across the entire globe.

I think it would make much more sense to enhance economic, educational, environmental, military etc. ties than joining (for now) unrealistic unions, as I wrote initially.

If people notice I voted "No" because I do not have any faith in such a project - however I wanted to test out my contention that there is no such thing as "Islamic" unity or "Muslim brotherhood". It counts jack. It counts a big zero in the real world. A athiest state like China in practical terms is far better as a partner then another so called "Muslim" country.

Actually this union would primarily be economic - similar to how EEC was in 1980s. It would provide -

1. Preferance rights to trade
2. Preferance rights to labour movement.

Therefore from a economic/defence point of view it would make every reason to be a success. Pakistan could provide labour. KSA would provide oil. UAE etc gas. All on preferantial basis.

you've gone and put all these stupid unpractical stipulations on it. I think the EU is a great model, workable too.
