I was raised in a very religious Christian family. My mother's two brothers were ministers, one a Methodist and the other an Episcopalian. But for me, I have never had an experience that has convinced me that God is really there. As a scientist it is very hard to believe in any metaphysical religion. I think true believers have had a personal experience that has convinced them, OR they have been frightened into believing, i.e. fearing the consquences of admitting that they have doubts. And, too, it seems a safe bet to say you believe, just in case .......

Atheism just means that you have no belief in a personal God.

Nothing to do with "ruling out" since that is impossible anyway.

I know what Atheism means but my point was that Buddhism does not rule out a God it says not to dwell on if there is or not a 'God' but i guess it depends on which school of Buddhism you follow.

thanks to ALLAK PAK i am not an atheist , well i encountered some in hostel and most of them were confused about life and frustrated about things and left believe when some of their wishes didn,t come true. we worked brought some back to normal.

when did earth begin according to you. I know when it says in the bible , but I'm not familiar with Islam. for that matter I'm not familiar when its says in my own religion Hindusim. Love to hear that bit of information.

I'm an agnostic. I do pretend to be a Muslim in front of my parents and family though because my parents will be really emotional if they find out I don't believe in Islam despite them not being practicing Muslims themselves. I'll make a post later to explain why I'm an agnostic.

well it would be better to stop pretending and tell reality to parents because it is better to be nonmuslim then a munafiq(hypocrite or one who pretends to be MUSLIM)
Cos MUSLIM is some one who believes in ALLAH PAK and if you don,t then why to pretend before parents.
