blackfinch, we're producing 113000 Aframax oil tankers.
By the end of this decade we will have ourselves many more toys. Just a few years ago we didn't have even this 1500 ton frigate, now we have two (second one will come online in the coming months). A few years ago we didn't have any domestic subs, now we have more than 20 midget subs perfect for the shallow waters of the Persian Gulf. We're producing them at a rate of 4-6 every year. We're also making a semi-heavy submarine. In the next decade we will have a much more capable navy.

We started our ship building industry in 2006 out of scratch. Since then we've made an aframax oil tanker (100000 plus displacement), 3 10K+ ocean going container ships and various others crafts (landing crafts, barges etc...).

There is nothing to be ashamed of here, I take pride in our abilities, abilities that nobody else in the region can duplicate. We're doing it all under sanctions and embargos.

You're naive. Don't you understand the media empire that they control? Iran is their enemy and they can take anything and spin it however they want and use it however they want. Your job is to defend Iran.

A few years ago I watched McCain sing "bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran" on LIVE TELEVISION. I was eating and I almost choked on my food. He was singing and laughing. If an Iranian official had said something like that, their entire media empire would have declared war on us. Iranians living outside Iran often become super nationalistic, precisely because of the hypocracy that we witness while living outside Iran.

My point is that you need to wake up and smell the coffee. I, as a secular non-muslim Iranian, will support the Islamic Republic before I support any Western power. We must stick together and learn to solve our issues on our own accord. Our hydrocarbon resources as well as our location have always made the mouths of Western powers water.

Even if we say the sky is blue, they will spin it somehow and scream bloody murder.

There is a difference between stand comedy and being proud of your country:
What do you call this?!
"Our naval forces are so powerful that we have a presence in all the waters of the world and, if needed, we can move to within three miles of New York,"

And we're not making one slave.

Earth to India: stop being such slaves, there is a billion of you for ****'s sake

what outburst? We're just not like you slaves. We don't think about what we say, because we're not pussies like you Indians. How many damn countries have took over India over the past 2500 years? Our mentality is simply different.

When some thug comes to our shores, we stand our ground. When a thug comes to your shores, you call him Sahib ;)

Doesn't matter if the US is a superpower or a backwater, if we don't have control over our own nation, there is no point in calling ourselves Iranians anyway. We're not picking a fight with anyone, it's they who have parked their aircraft carriers and destroyers on our shores and it's they who want to change our way of life.

So what did you call the Arabs when they crossed your border? I heard you still use their script.

One might ponder how the Persian speaking Central Asia became Turko-Mongol. ;)

It's called not answering to anybody and being able to claim bold things.

As I said before, people would have laughed if we had said we're going to have a presence in the Med Sea. This year alone we've crossed the Suez twice and been near Israel. We docked in Saudi Arabia and held exercises in the Med sea.

Since 2006 we've made 3 ocean going container ships (10K+ tons each) and a 113000 afra max oil tanker. We've also made barges, landing crafts etc... in the 30K ton range. All the pics are on the website I posted in the last page. We've also made 2 Jamaran class frigates and more than 20 midget subs (Ghadir class). A semi-heavy one is under construction.

All this in 6 years. See you in another 6 years. No matter how inferior our tech is, we're a producer and producers can always advance and build as many toys as they want. In a decade we will have more than 5 Jamarans, semi-heavy and heavy subs and more than 50 Ghadir class midget subs. This along with our 3 Kilo class Russian subs etc...

This is no argument that US doesn't want war but Iran is making it go to war by building nukes.

Making nukes is no excuse to go to war. US has implemented Sanctions as was its right, it has no other right on the matter.

i guess we did accept arabs because of islam and mohammad the last prophet of allah
according to what they teached us till today

Man, ships traveled and crossed oceans 5 centuries ago, what's so special of reaching the Med Sea or docking in other ports?:disagree:
Anyway, take a look at this UAE-made class:

In that case there is nothing special in reaching the east coast of the US either. Why are you making an issue out of it then?
See, this is your problem. You simply can't think objectively.

The significance is that the Med Sea is the playground of our enemies. It's the dragon's den if you will. People also like to think that we can't even get near Israel when in the past year we were on their coast.

And that's a nice shiny ship. We also had tons of those in the Mohamad Reza Shah era. We had the best of everything in the region. After Saddam attacked us, we had to use our shiny toys as battering rams because we didn't know how to maintain our stuff and couldn't come up with parts and amunition.

I've seen a pic of a bunch of Iranian soldiers, from the Iran-Iraq war, laughing with a broken fuel pump in their hand. The significance of the pic was that we couldn't even repair a damn fuel pump! That was our reality back then. We had an army that was only good as long as the Americans supported us.

Having an industrial base of your own, something we have mastered today, is the most important thing for any country on the planet. And remember, the GCC spends an avg of 8-10 percent of its GDP on weapons, Iran spends an avg of two. Saudis are on the high end of the scale with 10 percent. If Iran was spending 10 percent of its GDP on weapons, we would churn out 5 Jamaran class frigates every year. Food for thought.

You know what is their problem ? they are experiencing what we experienced 40 years ago ,

What fiction? A few years ago you yourself would have laughed at the idea of Iranian frigates in the Mediterranean. In the past year alone we have crossed the Suez twice and went by the coast of Israel both times. We docked in Saudi Arabia and Syria and held an exercise in Syria's coastal waters.

We're producing our own frigates (the second Jamaran frigate will come online this year) and have produced around 25 Ghadir class subs made specifically for the Persian Gulf. Our semi-heavy domestically built sub will come online at the end of this year as well.

We're also producing ocean going container ships and oil tankers.
Here are two 10K+ ton container ships

Iran is also building a 113000 ton oil tanker for Venezuela, which will be delivered by September.

We're increasingly capable in the field of ship building.
Brother, I have great admiration of your nation. If given the opportunity, I would love to visit Iran.

I never make fun of any nation. Iran is making good progress and has lot of potential. Iran is certainly a regional power.

However, my statement was in context of the news item in the lead post of this thread. You have to understand that WAR will destroy your beautiful nation and this will be another significant loss for Islamic block in modern times. USA is far beyond the league of any Islamic nation in terms of power projection and tolerance. Giving students FALSE HOPE against USA is foolish thing to do. Their are other methods to keep morale high.

Panetta went on to say that if a strike was made on Iran’s atomic weapons facilities then the US was better equipped to do it than Israel.

“If they decided to do it there’s no question that it would have an impact, but I think it’s also clear that if the United States did it we would have a hell of a bigger impact,” said Panetta.

And God knows! What else have they planned by now.

Best thing for Iran to do is garner as much 'international support' as possible under current circumstances. Amending ties with GCC will be the FIRST major step. Ponder over this.

The US will be against Iran no matter what regime is ruling Iran.
I believe that Iran and US can have friendly relations. Their are no permanent enemies in the world of foreign affairs.

As always, the U.S will do nothing but use others, i.e Arabs with modern weapons (without a manual guide.)

That's right, all our soldiers are home. So why does everyone here complain about them? I mean...we are to scared to go anywhere...

PS...Iran has the right to send her ships anywhere...freedom of the seas is a longstanding tradition and neccessary for the modern world. Even during the cold war US and Soviet ships would visit each other. We should invite them in for a port call.

you're excluding your tens of thousands of soldiers in Afghanistan probably.
