Invasion of India: Doc

And how did you arrive at that conclusion ?

Many claim that Puroshotthama was a Paurava rajput from modern day Rajasthan.

So we shall desist from imposing the modern day political boundaries on ancient day kingdoms that spanned both countries. Fair ?
Porus ruled a kingdom which resided in modern day eastern Punjab (part of modern age Pakistan now). Natives of this region have legitimate claim over him. Remember that Porus was not the ruler of entire subcontinent.

So??? There were divisions in all ancient civilizations. So were in Hindustan. That doesn't mean Hindustan didn't exist. It did and it included most of present day Pakistan.
Yes. Never denied this.

But we need to look beyond the veil of Hindustan, if we are talking about ancient history when Hindustan was divided in to different factions and kingdoms.

Porus was from Modern day Gujrat.

Hindustan was used as a collective term but it did exist and as far as modern day Pakistan, India as a political entity came into existence after britishers it was Bharat before that for Mughals... so it always meant the people as a collection.

Pakistan was sliced out of the political India which represented the sub-continent for ages. Now tell me when was the Pakistani Identity established?

.
this has been debunked so many times. East Pakistan had majority of the Hindus so when they separated obviously the numbers if Hindus fell

Sorry I mean 20% , not 30%. 20% of West Pakistan very Hindus and Sikhs in 1947 when partition happened. Most of them migrated to India. Now Pakistan barely has 1% left.

Before independence, Hindus and Sikhs had formed 20 per cent of the population of the areas now forming Pakistan, presently the percentage has "whittled down to one-and-a half percent"

I recommend everyone watch the movie Alexander it has a lot of Alexanders battles including against Porus

As for the history why can't we just share it instead of bickering like children.

How can Pakistanis share something with lowly hindus- the people they claim to have ruled for 1000 yrs...??

Pakistanis have nothing in common with evil yindu kaffirs

.
The ones who deny history and use their separation, which was on the basis of religion, to claim exclusive right to the IVC are the most dumb people on this plant. We are Indians from Indus and Hindus and Muslims from the same part.. now if some Pakistanis have a problem with that I guess they just have to stay frustrated!

By your logic, all ancient kingdoms of Europe should be treated as a collection with no separate identity of their own?

We are discussing part of history when Hindustan comprised of different kingdoms.

Pakistan was sliced out of the political India which represented the sub-continent for ages. Now tell me when was the Pakistani Identity established?
Are you trying to deny the ancient history of native tribes of modern age Pakistan?

I understand that divisions of modern age do not match historical divisions but it still makes sense to focus on history through the lens of location of ancient kingdoms and not ideological terminologies.

This is wrong assumption.

We do share history of Mughal Empire.

Even the much more ancient Indus Valley Civilization has historical relevance for some parts of modern age India which came under it.

Yes and Modern day Pakistan was a part of a Kingdom, Im a Punjabi, actually my parents are from present day Pakistan, there have been movements not from now from AGES, is it difficult for you to understand. claiming exclusive rights to descendants of a race thousands of years back is hilarious.

Are you trying to deny the ancient history of native tribes of modern age Pakistan?
No but I deny the exclusive lineage which you claim.

Actually it does not as Tribals generally kept moving.. Also, if you wish to know. porus comes from the puru tribe which originated from the banks of Saraswati river, which was in Rajashtan/Gujrat. The king you claim to be your legacy originated from the ancient Saraswati river in Rajasthan..

Alexander was brilliant, but was also very lucky. The rain made Porus' bows ineffective.

When confronted with a serious unified Indian Army, Alexander's troops refused to fight and forced Alexander to withdraw.

I wish Alexander had stayed to fight and be killed.

The history is written by Greeks, however it can be debated that Alexander was killed in the fight of Hydaspes..

Well he was certainly very seriously wounded by an arrow and barely managed to make it out of India alive. The documentary in the original post does not mention this fact.

again people were still migrating years after partition, migration didn't stop at 1947. I know families that came to Pakistan as late as the 1970's and 80's. Also Wikipedia isn't exactly a reliable source.

Alexandre was brilliant, a tactician who could read the crucial turning points in the heat of battle, all the while leading a army from the front. In the end I guess two great warriors showed respect from each others bravery Alexandre and the Indian king, can't imagine how brutal that battle would have been.

You are not getting my point. I am not talking about a race. I am talking about history of Eastern Punjab. Porus is historically relevant for Eastern Punjab because his kingdom existed in this region. Even if some of his descendants have migrated to other regions with passage of time, they have basically moved on and become a part of other kingdoms/societies.

My point is that Eastern Punjab does have 'independent history of its own' and Porus is part of it. Eastern Punjab was not always part of a united Hindustan.

Again, this discussion is not about race. This discussion is about exclusive history of Eastern Punjab region when it was not part of a united Hindustan.

If this debate is about race then their is only one conclusion: all humans are related to each other in one way or other because of a common ancestor.
