3 locos of this class (80000, 80001, 80002) are with Diesel loco Shed Itarsi. there are plans to make more of these energy efficient locos for unelectrified route service for small rakes.

KEY CHANGES TO ICF DEMU FRONT END - Some of the improvements in the second batch included better ventilation, possibility of inclusion of AC and a flat windscreen for easy replacement in remote parts of India.

DEMU FRONT END - Computational Flow Dynamics and Structural loading of wind speeds upto 120kmph at angles of 0, 45 and 90 degrees helped to refine the design.

It helps them to remain more alert.

i once had a chance to do a foot-plating on a freight locomotive (WAG 5 class) and i asked the same question to one driver. He answered that the seats are quite poorly designed and they are more comfortable standing, although every once in a while they do take some rest.
newer locos have this factor taken care off and the seats seem to be much more comfortable.
Latest WDG 5 class loco (5500 HP) has even been provided with a small toilet and vastly improved ergonomics for driving staff comfort.

Good thing that human comfort has now become an important design criteria for the most important people on any train.

these are lovingly called Toasters, owing to very poor cooling in one of the driving cabs. Also before deployment of WDP 4D and WDG 4D, these were the only Dual cab diesels on IR.
