Indian MI chief visited Kabul to assess situation

NEW DELHI, Jan. 16 (APP) In the wake of US President Barack Obama’s policy to start withdrawing forces from Afghanistan in 2011, Indian Army’s intelligence chief Lt Gen R K Loomba paid a quiet trip to Afghanistan last week to assess the situation there, an army officer said.
“Director General of Military Intelligence Lt Gen R K Loomba was in Afghanistan last week to meet officers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) of the NATO countries,” media reports quoting an Army officer said here on Saturday.
Loomba visited ANA headquarters, where he met senior officers and also held talks with ISAF commanders.
The Indian Army is already present in Afghanistan imparting training to ANA officers at its defence institutions, the officer said.

Indian army's presence in afghanistan has nagative impact on region.
It is teamed up with drug lords and warlords and forcing US tax payers to pay for its proxy war against Pakistan.
All money spent on ANA is money spent against Pakistan and majority Pashtoons. It is like an effort to turning all Pashtoons against US.
US need to add Pashtoons in army...officers and soldiers as per their representation in population.

What? That's off topic but nonetheless let's go over it. Clinton is an impartial neutral mediator who has no interests in supporting one side, right? How many times have we been over this dude. US has interests in Balochistan - mainly to not let Balochistan and particuarly Gwadar be used by the Chinese. US - just like any other state - is ruled by its interests and will do whats in interests. Yes this may mean US might be supporting Balochistan insurgents. So of course india supporting insurgents there is in their interests, and they will not admit indian involvement. So what Clinton or some state says in these kinds of matters is pointless. One has to look beyond what the states are saying.

If the words " Indian Army' in the first line were to be replaced by PA ( read ISI ) the rest would be equally applicable !

On a serious not, why shouldn't the Indian MI boss visit Kabul ? Why the fuss ?

India Army and establishment says Pakistan is sponsoring terrorism in India - The whole world accepts that pakistani non state actors involved in this. The fact that pakistani govt backs this is NOT established and of late even India is not pushing this line

Pakistani army/isi/establishment says Indian govt is involved in terrorism in Pakistan. USA rejects the claims. No proofs shared till date on State or non state actors' invovlement except on forums through undisclosed sources within PA, ISI etc

Can we leave it at this?? Else its a never ending Yes it is, No it is not debate

To the contrary, the training that IA is imparting to ANA will enable them to be self sustained over the years in their own defence and make sure that their country is not then victim of another terrorist / political adventurism of Pakistan as part of its strategic depth / hole digging idea.

Re the drug trafficking, well if the Taliban is running its war with the drug money as is acknowledged then the bad guys already control the drugs. So training ANA will only help them in eradicating this menace over times to come.

Unfair to say that ANA is anti-Pakistan. At the moment those guys are busy eliminating the threats to their existence which are continually gifted to them from Pakistan. But yes, over the years as they trounce this menace then the ANA thinking will be important. Like sow like reap then.....

What the hell is Indian MI Cheif doing in Afghanistan? They seem to have a lot of love for Aghanis, Pakistan should deport all the Afghan Refugees to India. Since they are showing a lot of love, i am sure will not hesitate to accept them. Afghans too will be happy, they will be reunited with their "true friends".

India presence in Afghanistan is under US shelter. Once the yanks are gone, ISI & PA will help India in improving Afghanistan.:)
