India, France sign $6 bn deal on Surface to Air Missile

This deal with France is for VSHORAD i think.
Spyder is SR SAM.

What i donot understand is what role does this have in IN.

IN already fields a good system in Barak 1. Its also a 10km range naval SRSAM.
IN is on the verge of completing Barak NG/8. Its a 70kms range naval MRSAM.


So where does a 15 km range Maitri fit into this?

VSHORAD.......Abhi to tender nikla hai kms se km 4-5 year lg gayenge dost..
Spyder are in IAF, but in very few# to protect few key installation around India. Failure of Trishul leads IAF towards this. So there is also too bigger scope for Maitri in IAF.

Barak1 is good but sactioned, but Maitri is also good & Indian..........We can put these system in our future ships while older ships will use Barak1. No cofusion.
Barak2 is LRSAM, so ship need LRSAM as well as quick reaction SAM like Maitri/BArak for low flying a/c & cruise missiles.

But I have doubt that these missile will ever induct in IA.......

I don't think this deal is related with VSHORAD as VSHORAD consists Manpads like Igla,Mistral-2 and Rbs-70 which has range about 5km where Maitri will be a point defence missile with range upto 15 km.correct me if i'm wrong.

Isreally SAM (Barak1) is used by IN. While Russian SAMs used by IAF & IA, but Indian (AKASH) & French (Maitri) will replace them. New Isrealy SAM(Barak8) will place in IAF & IN. :Lol:
So we will use only 3 countries SAM
1-INDIA
2-ISREAL
3-FRANCE

In the name of defence, we are spending money like water. This is really frightening me now.

Until now, we were throwing money only on Russians, now we throwing money on the Americans Israelis and the French too and that too by the truckloads.

Untill prospect of deal will not open you can not quetion about price tag, may be it include hole development cost as well as initial order.....

Because none of them is quick reaction, which is essential for low level air-defense.
BTW you can not see the value of these as you put your air defence on shoulder fire missiles....

there is something called strategikk planning and as acharya vishnugupt said you have to start perepairing for war from day one well the point is Patriot , Iron Dome & akash are for diff roles and this short range one has something very diff wait for some time youl also know its imp then i guess PAF , PA & PN will be thinking hundred times to have a little adventure when the full matrix finally will get into place dont worry ewe are getiing there
