India develops Urdu font, ‘dumps’ Pakistan's.

Actually I just understood all the things you said
Before cumming to PDF I didn't knew that I knew that many words of Urdu I thought they were hindi
Like Alfaaz,Mohbaat

I also learned some Urdu words like Jamuriat

If you open a Persian Dictionary, you would be amazed at how many hundreds of words you will recognize.

Those are all words that came into Urdu language from Persian/Arabic.

Persian itself has hundreds of Arabic words in it. Here are some of the words you will recognize because you use them or understand them thru what you think is Hindi:

Common Persian/Arabic words in Urdu like Ibtidaa, Mushkil, Aasaan, Mumkin, Imkaan, Mulazim, Zameen , Daulut/Daulutmund, Salook, Faqeer, Badshah, Wazeer, Ghair, Dost , Dushman, Aadi, Mujrim, Muzloom, Munasib, Ilzam, Intihaa, Aashiq, Ashq, Muhabbat, Nufrat, Muqabila, Manzar, Khoobsurat, Fursat, Moqaa, Mahal, Farash, Mahtaab , Aftab, Hamdard, Ajeeb, Ghareeb, Intiqaal, Zubaan, Zulm, Ilm, Maal, Intizaam, Aaesh o Ishrat, Darja e hararat, Husn, Haseen, Insaan, Fareshtay, Fuzool, shaitaan, sharam, Muntiq, Maslayhat, Marz, bimar, sayhat / Sayhatmund, Humsaaey, Mohsin, Mukhalif, Omeed, Intayqaam, inqilaab, Ghaaib, Ahtaram, Istaqbaal, Imtihaan, Sabaq, Moseeqi, Mazi, Haal , Mustaqbil, Darakht, Undaaz, ahle Khana, Pusht, Simth, Darya, sumandar, Ghiza, Paida, talism, pasand ya napasand, etc.

These are just few easy words I am rambling as they come to mind. But I think you get the idea. There are hundreds such easy words that won't appear foreign to you but they are part of the language you speak or understand. Whether you call it Urdu or Hindi, it is the same language and its origins are all from Farsi/Arabic

This enterprise is aimed at isolating Indian Urdu users from those of Pakistan. Indian Urdu users, being Muslim mostly, this could eventually lead to creating a barrier between them and Pakistan. It is no big secret that Indian Muslims look up to Pakistan for support and security in a country where they are regularly subjected to killing and ill-treatment.

Can you give a data of total unnatural deaths of 50 years in your country.

You tell me how many people are able to understand Urdu in India.

It is spoken and very well understood in all of northern India.

Agar mein Urdu mein baat karon tou north India mein kis ko yeh baat samaj nahi aaeey gi ? Aap bataeyeh ?

By my estimate in all of South Asia, close to a Billion people will understand me whether Urdu is their native language or not.

Just two Indian Provinces that speak pure Urdu ( UP and Bihar/Jharkand) have a combined Population of 300 million.

Practically all of Pakistan speaks and understands Urdu language ( another 200 Million).

Other than Chinese and English, no other language can substantiate numbers as Urdu/Hindi.

To me Hindi speakers speak Urdu and call it Hindi because of political expediency.

Aap agar Urdu mein baat karein tou North India kya..... abhi almost pura India ko samajh ayega janab....

@Pakistanisage
u mentioned the word sumandar in ur list which is not an urdu word.It originated from the sanskrit word samudra which means sea.
i will definitely open a thread one day showing tht urdu is not a distinct language from hindi.you people simply dont have any knowledge as to what constitutes a language.throwing in few arabic and persian words cant make hindi a diff language.by tht theory even hindi which is being spoken now is not hindi as it has thousands of english words in it

Sir, I am not saying that Hindi is a separate Language.

All I am saying is that the spoken Hindi of today has little difference with spoken Urdu.

Just by adding few Sanskrit words don't make it a separate language.

And these are not few words as I am only speaking from memory and including only the easiest words that most people use in their everyday language.

There are literally Hundreds if not thousands of words in Urdu/Hindi from Arabic and Persian.

You are entitled to your Opinion, but that does not change reality.

Pardon me, I don't disagree with anyone's views (except for, perhaps, the slightly fanatic guy who wrote the, "It is no big secret that Indian Muslims look up to Pakistan for support and security in a country where they are regularly subjected to killing and ill-treatment." stuff. I don't think that was accurate in the least), but anyway, isn't the article in the original post making a mountain out of a mole-hill? "Dumps Pakistan's" I mean, like, they just made their own font, it's not like they declared war or something.

A lot of other languages have different fonts for separate regions. If I am not wrong, there is English (US), English (UK), English (Ireland), English (Australia), English (Republic of the Philippines) and even English (India). It's not like these fonts were made by their respective communities just because the wanted to separate themselves from, or show their enmity towards, some other region or something.

Well put.

Why do we even need a Urdu promotion council or whatever. Waste of money. Especially when its the Devanagri script that is widespread and not many have use for the right-to-left script.
