What's new

India develops Urdu font, ‘dumps’ Pakistan's.

This enterprise is aimed at isolating Indian Urdu users from those of Pakistan. Indian Urdu users, being Muslim mostly, this could eventually lead to creating a barrier between them and Pakistan. It is no big secret that Indian Muslims look up to Pakistan for support and security in a country where they are regularly subjected to killing and ill-treatment.

india may dump urdu as a whole like they removed urdu and farsi words from something an article i read few days ago?

That is not an option nor shall ever happen.

There are equal if not more urdu speakers in India. The example you are talking of is a functional requirement of a state where urdu is not spoken.

Let us all get together and Promote Urdu language which is probably one of the five most spoken languages in the World.

Are you sure it is in top 5 ??

Because it is not even in top 10 in wiki .

So indians feel that insecure from pakistan?.....:haha:

The title is reflection of OP's mentality. With a nick RAW007 and a total of 74 Posts he/she was Trolling as much as they could. Which explains the "Banned" in Pink colour.

On Topic, Urdu speakers from Pakistan really don't care. There is really no rivalry between Urdu speakers of Pakistan and India. Anyone who works on improving Urdu language is looked at with envy and respect. We Pakistani Urdu Speakers would like more Joint activities and functions that promote Urdu language between our two nations such as Mushairas and Urdu Theatre.

I think speakers of Urdu/Hindi are the biggest linguistic group after English and Chinese.

You tell me how many people are able to understand Urdu in India.

It is spoken and very well understood in all of northern India.

Agar mein Urdu mein baat karon tou north India mein kis ko yeh baat samaj nahi aaeey gi ? Aap bataeyeh ?

By my estimate in all of South Asia, close to a Billion people will understand me whether Urdu is their native language or not.

Just two Indian Provinces that speak pure Urdu ( UP and Bihar/Jharkand) have a combined Population of 300 million.

Practically all of Pakistan speaks and understands Urdu language ( another 200 Million).

Other than Chinese and English, no other language can substantiate numbers as high as Urdu/Hindi.

To me Hindi speakers speak Urdu and call it Hindi because of political expediency.

The line between Hindi & Urdu is blurred in N India. Thanks to Bollywood we all know & use Urdu words without realizing it.

Its only the mythological TV serials that speak pure Hindi .

Actually it doesn't matter. Its called the Ganga - Jamuni sanskriti - a happy blend between the two languages which are inseparable.
