not much. Brahmans the highest in caste hierarchy are not really rich. They are educated and are in good job but that's it. the richest communities are that of business communities which comes under Back ward castes.

as a long term PDF member you must have seen the word 'baniya' ! baniya derives from 'Banik' which means Business Man. these baniyas are a are back bone of Indian economy ( specially rural econmy).

Now the baniyas are mostly considered as Backward Caste but due to hard work and business oriented mindset they are wealthier. The big corporate houses of India ( ambani,Modi etc) comes from this section of society.
