Ancient India is not the same as the Republic of India ! At any rate presenting Ancient India as a geographically, politically or even culturally unifying single entity is historically erroneous irrespective of whether it comes across as being ludicrous to you or not for the brutal truth is that India for most of her life has been little more than a Subcontinent of different Kingdoms fighting it out with each other. The fact that the Republic of India shares its namesake with the Indian Subcontinent of ages past does not make it the inheritors of its History at the expense of all other country's in its vicinity that were born on the same day or near about the equally pseudo phenomena called the 'Republic of India' or at that time the 'Dominion of India'.
The oldest civilizations & those areas are associated with the people who inhabit these areas & their descendents call themselves Pakistanis not Indians.
They might call themselves Martians for all I care....but the history of the land stays in the history books - no one can change what was written thousands of years ago.
There is a difference between Ancient India and the modern India but does that take away the Indian culture from us? no it does not, my ancestors date a few centuries back - they were called Indians as we are called Indians now, but you have a new name to call yourselves which is different to what your ancestors were called or referred to.
