IA has purchased 2000 Akash missiles on about 20-30 systems. It replaced their 80s tech SA-6 which was in similar numbers. The Israeli QRSAM is a different class from Akash. IAF also operates the SPYDER QRSAM along with Akash. Akash is categorized as an SRSAM, which is different from QRSAM. For example, Akash has a 55Kg warhead while the warheads on SPYDER is 11Kg and 23Kg.

Importing NVDs are since long a declining trend, IA is in fact using local companies.
Why show you the pictures? Clearly to upend bias and to show haters that they don't like to be dealt when their BS is caught.

Haha. Brahmos has multiple variants, and some are not ready yet. The ones that are ready, the Russians cannot afford or have no interest in. Plus, the entire production capacity was taken over by the Indian armed force.

There's nothing wrong with Insas. There's a lot of vested interest in the system. All you have to see are the orders placed, that gives the best idea. News articles are all led by lobbyists.

Insas was modified and a new rifle is available called Excalibur. Limited orders will be placed because of the change in ammo.

The Indian Army (IA) plans to temporarily induct locally developed Excalibur assault rifles into service until it shortlists a 7.62x51 mm rifle for import over the next few years, sources told IHS Jane's on 24 October.

In fact, IA had stipulated such stringent requirements that not even one global company could successfully fulfill all parameters. As of today, only DRDO has a rifle that could fulfill all of IA's requirements. That's the MCIWS.

But IA has made a doctrine change, so this rifle will have to be modified. And of course, it will have to compete with the best available in the world.

An earlier tender for the “capital procurement” of 1.86 lakh modular jackets was scrapped in October 2015 because the samples offered by six vendors “failed” to clear field trials, as was first reported by TOI.

However, when the samples failed to meet requirements, the Army vice-chief’s existing financial powers were “relaxed as a one-time exception” to ensure the urgent purchase of 50,000 jackets based on older technical specifications. “The minister and Army vice-chief Lt-General M M S Rai pushed to expedite the entire process,” said a source.

The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has now come up with a prototype bullet-proof jacket, as per the newer technical specifications, using different “state-of-the-art ballistic materials”. This under-development prototype aims to protect against AK-47s and self-loading rifle bullets.

“The prototype has successfully undergone stage-1 and 2 trials. It will be a contender in the fresh capital procurement case being initiated again for the first lot of 1.86 lakh jackets,” said a source.

So even global powerhouses are unable to keep up with IA's requirements.

Simrad makes night sites for both US Special Forces and the Norwegian Armed Forces, so I'm not sure they'd throw their hat into an Indian tender or not, but they've a lot of experience making night optics.

Rheinmetall Air Defence was banned for corruption in India. So Simrad's chances are possibly quite low.

The grand success of those strikes is evidenced by the "3.2 billion dollar fact" of inviting RFI for hitherto non existing NVD in the market.

India had lost 51 soldiers in militant attacks and cross-border firing since it conducted the "surgical strikes" on terrorist launch pads inside Pakistan.

Beginning this month, the Indian Army has already invited global bids for NVDs for long range LMGs and Uncooled Thermal Imager based Driver's Night Sight with fusion technology for the Russian-origin T-90 tanks. The Army requires the range of detection of a human target at minimum 1000 meters.

All RFIs for 7.62mm Light Machine Gun (II) and (TI) which end by Feb 2017 welcome both Indian and foreign vendors.
IA already buy products from Tak technologies and BEL has sold over 10000 NVD to them.

As for Kargil well I also used to think that India won Kargil until I came to know that Pakistan is still sitting in Kargil in fact on two highest peaks. Kargil now seem to be your biggest embarrassment. We send 500 guys most of them were Jihadis and you brought 40000 soldiers along with latest Artillery and MRLs and Fighter Jets still failed to get all the peaks back if you consider that victory !!! than I can do nothing about that. 2) What were its objectives?
3) How much of it Pakistan accomplished?
