What's new

In a first, women of armed forces to march on R-Day

I have attended just one NCC camp. Lol
And around those days there was a selection for RD parade going on, getting selected for it meant that you had to sacrifice 3 months of your studies because the practise usually begins somewhere in November but thats in Delhi. For the selection, students start practicing from october itself.
Dont know if we have someone who had participated in RD parade?? I have only attended it as audience. Lol

In my NCC camp they made me shoot from a long range rifle. Rifle had to be cocked every single time and damn fools didnt give me any cotton. I missed all 10 of my shots but was glad it was over.

Yes. Maybe two are every year. Does that mean the entire armed forces setup needs to change to accommodate these two?

bro, relax, why the hate?

Should the army change its way to accomodate the 1 or 2 female that slip through the course? I dont know, that is a question for someon e better than me to answer.

I can only comment on what i saw, and in the army, you dont get to pick who you going to war with, if it was up to me, i willprobably go with Arnie and Stallone and maybe Jason Statham, but you dont get to choose.

So i only go to war with soldiers, and that s all i gotta see, i dont see male, female, strong or weak, i only see soldiers and when i am giving an order, i expect them to follow it.

I bet that 'when you train them, they become armed and dangerous and should never be pissed off' comment didn't come so much as from observations in combat as it did from making the cardinal mistake of criticizing Mrs.Hungary's cooking !

You damn male chauvinist !
dude, its 130 am here, she is easily been asleep for hours

You can't handle the truth, Marine ! :big_boss:

*And when you read the above comment; picture me as Jack Nicholson from the movie A Few Good Men* :D

@jhungary - No reply ! :cry:

I am also against reservation for women in armed forces. Recruit 'em only if they 're fit and efficient. But govt shld not stifle their growth within the organisation if they 're capable.
Indeed, there should be zero stifling going on. If a woman meets a be criteria for promotion and further progression in the military let them. It is a disgusting and despicable practice to not progress an officer's career based on any criteria bit outlined in the official guidelines for progression.

Women can't even kill cockroaches and they want to fight in army ? :p: :enjoy:
Let us not get this topic confused. There is no plan to allow females into combatant roles. Women currently serve in non-combat roles only and the issue is purely about them not being able to progress further in these non-combat arms ie signals, services, AMC etc.

I can see the argument the IA would use in certain situations for not giving a female charge of a non-combat unit. One has to understand that whilst the aforementioned arms are technically non-chat arms, that does not mean they will never face combat. In the signals for instance they have combat signallers, the AMC too has combat medics etc etc.

It is thus a murky and incredibly hard to navigate area. Is it appropriate for a female to be given the CO or even 2IC position in a unit when when that unit is deployed in combat posts she won't be there the lead them?

This really isn't a black and white issue I truly do want to see more females in the indian military (and every arena of government ) but let's also understand this is an incredibly nuanced issue and there are valid sentiments on all sides. Let us not be so quick to label institutions like the military as sexist and other demeaning labels.

Most men are egalitarian , not feminists. They simply claim to be feminists.

I believe most men are MCP ...very few are truly egalitarian ...
most of those who pretend to be feminist are actually are not ...they are unlikely to be egalitarian for same reasons .

lol bash if you wish, i saw what i saw in Iraq.

And indeed they are prosponing the equality PT requirement for Female to join combat MOS, but on the other hand female are passing Sapper and Ranger course, and they dont offer soecial entry
How many women have passed through the Ranger course?

I've been watching the progression of "gender equality " in the US military for some time now and it doesn't appear to be going all to well at all. Whilst one can't deny the success of the female engagement teams (FET) in the US army in Afghanistan who were attached to regular infantry units one can't extend this very specific example to females in combat as a de facto rule.

For every positive report regarding the FETs there is a report/incident of male infantry men having to disperse the supplies of a female medic attached to an infantry unit whilst in the field as the kit is too much for her to carry in the heat on her own.

To date, despite having lowered the physical requirements significantly, not one female has been able to pass through the US marine corp's infantry officer course.

There is talk of lowering the bar for females to go through Ranger school but this has, as you can imagine, been met with a lot of back lash.

lol actually i mean 2 women have pass the selection of ranger course with the equal standard, Lt Alexandra Kirby from Utah national guard. and the other one i forgot...

Problem is even if those women passed Ranger Course they would still not going to be ranger.

About the standard of female recruit, i cannot comment on that as they are on going, but i did fight with some female soldier overthere and the one i got have not much of a problem.

Yeah, you will get female not able to handle the situation dealt with here and there, but to be fair, i saw a lot more man not be able to handle the heat of combat too...

Not saying i am pro female or whatever, but in war, i dont really care what they are, as long ss they are able to do their job...

How could someone hate that movie??!!Wait..........is it because you were army and it was about the USMC??

lol i.dont like war movie or military theme movie altogether...Not becuase i was Army and they were about the Marine
