I hope govt lets women command battalions now, because ‘group intelligence’ of an institution increases when women come on board. :)

Allow me to play the Devil's advocate on this one. Please do note that this is just for the sake of having a different point of view. I do not necessarily hold these views.

The following are quotes from the Israeli experience wrt women in combat roles.

History shows that the presence of women has had a devastating impact on the effectiveness of men in battle,” -John Luddy in July 27, 1994, for the Heritage Foundation backgrounder.

"women have been barred from combat in Israel since 1950, when a review of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War showed how harmful their presence could be. The study revealed that men tried to protect and assist women rather than continue their attack. As a result, they not only put their own lives in greater danger, but also jeopardized the survival of the entire unit. The study further revealed that unit morale was damaged when men saw women killed and maimed on the battlefield,” - Luddy.

It is of course possible to mitigate these effects by forming all women field formations, but then the question arises, how far up the ORBAT structure do you go with all women troops? My guess is you'd need to get to independent brigade level at the very least, with divisional level being the preferred level.

And then there is also the question of the effect of female casualties on the commanders, the government and finally on the nation. Will this nation be able to accept large scale women casualties? And what happens if the fear of female casualties causes commanders to make unsound choices?
I think this man from armed forces answers that doubt...
I had my share of fighting alongside women, and let me tell you this, dont underestimate what a woman can do in a Macy Sale and dont underestimate what a woman can do in combat. When you train them, they become armed and dangerous and should never be pissed off...

not the woman's fault.

I am all for women joining the military, I am just against this happening through reservations or through the bar being artificially lowered for them. Women will perform just as well if not better than their male counterparts in the military (the technical services that is) and I look forward to seeing this.
Nah,women joining in combat battalions will be nothing short of a disaster as far as the combat capabilities of the Indian Army is concerned.Mate we do have to accept the fact that women are not physically comparable to their male counterparts and in real life combat zones it will cost the I.A. a great deal. However, women officers and soldiers in other branches of the I.A. is quite acceptable specially in the Signals and in the Aviation Corp because of their quick reflexes.Simply put,the general Indian populace are yet to accept women in active combat role:coffee:.

its hard to be funny when you are posting at 2 am....

Off topic. My sincere apologies, but couldn't resist myself. I can vouch for what is said above. I have a first hand experience with my better half.

dude, women gone after bargin like GWB gone after taliban....You dont ever doubt their determination, vigorsity and agressiveness when a woman spot a bargin.

Once they saw it, they would do anything, and that i mean A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G to grab that bargin..

I am telling you, if the US Military employ the same level of agreasivenesw in women looking for bqrgin to search cor OBL, we would have killed him a lot sooner than over 10 years...

You know, i have seen war, but i got scared when i saw my wife's action and conduct during black friday sale, i mean really scare..nlol

Blunt generalization.. there are women who are physically fit enough to pass the same PT test which men have to pass, thus, from a fitness point of view, they have the same capabilities than men!

And remember, the people who thought out those requirements had put thought behind them....
