There is no confusion at all. In this country, it's often that a father calls his daughter in law Ma (mother) or a grand father calls his adoring granddaughter the same. A beggar can call a house owner Ma or Majii. Its a cultural tradition to call someone mother to express love and adoration. As cow holds the same adoration value, it is called the same too.

I dont know why this should be an issue.

Farmers make a big percentage of our population now and historically. They have depended upon cows for their livelihood, the exact reason it is sacred for them. They feel deeply about cow slaughter cause for them cows are more than just a part of the family.

Muslims can eat buffalo beef it they like, why is that eating one form of meat is killing their religion? Are Muslims so insecure?

I am surprised you need to ask that question. Anyways, Do you know what is the punishment for leaving islam in islamic countries?
