IAF MiG-21 crashes in Haryana

Jaguars are around the same age of the Bis/Bisons. Based on that logic, Jaguars should be retired? Military jets normal age of retirement is around 35 years.

how many f-16s did pak got......just 20
only 16 remains.............. .........f-16 has several variants.....................your's variant is not most advanced..........
Even the first variant of F16's was light years ahead of 60's era soviet MIG 21 ... Go research a little before derailing the thread ...

Is this news true? I couldn't find it in any other source.

To answer my own query:
The Hindu : News / National : MiG-21 crashes in Haryana; pilot safe

It is especially worrisome that this is a bison that has crashed. This is the variant that is planned to be kept till 2017. Older variants will be retired earlier, I think by 2015.

To the earlier point about mig 21 being sufficient to deal with pak - that doesnt mean that it is comparable to pak's best fighters. The MKIs, upgraded mig 29s and mirages can take care of anything in the PAF's arsenal. The MKIs numerically and technically are far more superior than the F16 fleet that PAF has. The mig 21s, ancient though they are, can still deal with the bulk of PAF's combat aircraft, namely mirage 3, mirage 5 and F-7.

India is working hard in winning the Nobel Peace prize in 2012 with its Mig-21 one at a time. Good job!

lets wait for more link dear

no link is coming.......bcoz dead body was't found yet..................only some body parts such as legs, hands r found from crash site...............thats over

peace upon Dhermendra.............

What is the Crash per flying hours of the IAF Mig-21? I've been trying to find this info but it's elusive.
The JF-17 has a crash rate of 1 per 7000hours/10,000sorties at present.

Does somebody have that for important stat for the IAF Mig-21? For once we can conclude whether IAF Mig-21 crashes are serious or tolerable, instead of jumping up and down like the ignorant media & masses.

The JFT was lost due to bird hit..(got stuck in the engine-dsi) not related to technical malfunction.

As for mig-21 IAF pilot...RIP.. Unlike indians on indian forums we dont celebrate the deaths of indian military persons or indian civies...

they r already expired............no need to wait......
but Mig-21 still remains as a most destructive aircraft for PAKISTAN for decades.........:tup:

What a bloody ... look at the thumbs up smilies.. u guys r bloody sick... as for mig-21..we dnt operate them...we operate upgraded versions of J-7PGs etc tht we bought in mid 1990s upto 2002 during sanction era... and no troll they dnt have a bad accident record as indian airforce tht has crashed over 1003+ jets in just 20 years or maybe less...the worst crash record in the world...also they will be phased out by 2014-15.
