Huawei P20 (899Euros) Released: 40 MP RGB camera, AI-driven photography system, and 4000 mAh battery

Again, you are arguing something really subjective.

For the battery, it won't be that much of the different, AI or no AI between 3500 and 4000 mAH battery, you are talking about 0.5A different on apps usage, which is 1 to 2 apps, it won't make much different if you are program/apps intense user, it's not like a 2500 or 3000 mAH vs 4000mAH, so If I play game, listen to Spotify and watch youtube, check twitter and facebook on my phone, it will finish more or less the same time. And if you don't use that much feature, then those people would mostly don't buy top end phone.

How 40MP tri-Camera is "Game Changer" to set or a future trend when you completely ignore my point of getting that camera intensive on a phone is useless?? People are that camera intensive would generally prefer DSLR over taking picture with a phone, and people who uses phone camera does not really care about resolution and AI tech, they usually just click and go. And a good enough camera is already enough.

And finally, people needed large storage, for me, I always put my music and video on my phone so I can watch them when I was travelling on a train or bus, and the bigger the storage, the better both the number of movie I can store and the quality of the movie, so I can store UHD movie instead of 720P.

I don't think Huawei will outsell Samsung S9 even if US does not ban Huawei, simply because Huawei broke one major rules, that is their phone are supposed to be cheap, and if they charge more than Samsung S9 with an inferior phone, people will simply not consider it. I don't think I see how Huawei can outsell Samsung, we can post data from Australia, UK, Canada, or other place that does not ban the sale of Huawei. We will see how good or bad the phone perform.
Like I said before, longer batter and faster charge will make people life more convenient. When you are spending that much money on a premium, any small improvement over than get magnified. It's about the bragging right. So certainly a better battery will do wonder for P20. As far that application goes, people use their phone differently on a daily basis but when you need that extra battery boost in emergency situation, that will save your life!

So you are spending that much money just so you can do regular Joe image/video capture? Then why don't you buy a $300 cellphone which have regular Joe feature? You totally miss the point about 40mp triple lense. Huawei had basically change the dynamic and standard of how consumer should utilize their phone camera. It's about differentiation. It's why Apple is so successful in selling despite falling behind in hardware specification. Finally, Huawei can claim that they are the first company to introduce 40mp triple lenses and the best battery phone on the market. That kind of differentiation will cause people to rethink about buying an inferior product like S9+ despite the $100 difference. However you can argue that $100 meant nothing if you preorder as Huawei will also gift-wrap you a $300 value worth of Bose headphone. Therefore it's a pretty damn good deal with it. Go buy it before it's too late!

You're old school tech user that why you need a large storage. Nowadays, tech savvy like me store my stuff on the cloud. This is not mentioning when 5G came out, with faster download/streaming, I don't even know the reason for having an external capacity.

LOL you are such a joker right now. Relax, we know you're a China-hater so you don't need to talk crap about a Chinese company. I careless about which company they are as long as they provide me the best technology. As far as I'm concern, Samsung started off as a cheap company too and moved up. That's how you enter a market. Eventually Huawei will force consumer to rethink about their brand. As long as Huawei continue to innovate and breaking technological barrier and offering crazy feature like these, there is no stopping it.

The S9 Plus only has SD845 in the US, I have an Exynos model and it's about 20% faster.
6 GB Of RAM is well more than enough, and I am pretty sure the one in the Galaxy S9 is clocked higher than the one in Xiaomi phones.
Charging speed and battery drain don't effect me as long as I get my one day of usage, and I get more than it.
Also, which phones use QC 4.0? Most I've seen is 3.0.
3500mAh compared to 4000mAh, there was only a 16 minute advantage to the P-20 in this video
Is that enough for you to call the P-20 Pro's battery incredible, and the S9 Plus not that great?

By the way, you also get some really good 100$ AKG earbuds.
LOL That was a pre-update software. After the update, there should be a major battery performance difference like in the Mate 10 pro that I'm using now which last me more about than 5.3hrs easily. Before the update, mine last about S9+ battery performance range.

Also worth noting is the sour grape from the Chinese-hater consumer. It was pretty funny to see the bias in the comment. LOL This is actually a good sign as Chinese company is making a huge threat to these Galaxy fanboy. In fact, after Samsung battery explosion fiasco, I thought these fanboy would learn a thing or two their phone. LOL

I don't even know why people are even consider buying an S9+ when this beast comes out. LOL Design, style, differentiation, battery, camera. Come on, this is a no brainier unless people buying Samsung to use as a grenade in the future. LOL

Design and style? That's a personal opinion, and the S9+ is for most people way more attractive, curved display, no notch, more screen to body ratio.
Again, 16 minutes difference in battery, nothing revolutionary. If a phone's battery lasts more than a day it's fine for me.
Your Camera in the P-20 Pro isn't that much better than the S9+, video in the P-20 Pro is way worse than on the S9+. Also your selfie camera is inferior.
Your processor is slower, and overall your phone is more expensive.
Not that I care about brands, but Samsung is much more well known and respected.

I don't know about that update but this video is less than a week old.

I don't hate the Chinese or their products. Right now I prefer Samsung's phones, you haven't reached their level yet.
Samsung handled that exploding battery story very well, and recalled all of the Note 7s, and also made sure they learn from their mistake.

You are talking about the same thing again.

1.) Battery don't need to last really long, most people (I don't know about you) only need to have enough charge for 8 to 9 hours, aka the moment they went to work to the moment they come back home. Most phone with the crappiest battery can do that, in fact, most of us need them even shorter, because we can charge our phone in the office ( I don't know about your company in China, maybe they don't allow you to charge your phone) so for me, as long as my phone last the journey to and back from Parramatta Police HQ. I am good.

And even if all else fail (Like I forgot to charge my phone or my work place having a black out), I always have power bank that can last 2 full charges, which is in Samsung S9+ case 18 hours, and finally, if I wanted, I can charge my phone EVERYWHERE, in the mall, in the train station, even at McDonalds.

2.) 4000 mAH battery in P20 Pro DOES NOT OFFER MUCH ADVANTAGE over the 3500 mAH battery in S9+, you get 1.5 hours more standby time and only 20 minutes (16 minutes in Beny's Video) usage time. Which is literally nothing.

And if Battery is really that important to you, then you should not use High End phone and get a Nokia 1110 which will last you a nice 112 hours standby time between charge, that will meet all your "Emergency" need

You do know what people uses phone camera for, right?

There are only virtually 4 usage of a mobile phone camera

- Selfie (Which does not need a good camera)
- Taking stupid picture of yourself doing stupid stuff (same as selfie, you don't need a good camera)
- Document Special Occasion (Usually you will use video capture, not image)
- Social Media uses (again, Most are video now on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, seriously, when is the last time someone posted a phone on your Facebook/Weibo timeline?

And then you still have not address the issue of a 5x hybrid zoom is a waste of the 40MP bandwidth. Which again, I have not heard from any loyal Chinese member explain to me how a 40MP resolution is effective on a 5x Hybrid zoom.

You can call Samsung S9+ is an inferior phone, but that is just you kidding yourself. In term of hardware, again, beside the Camera and the Battery, everything else is better on the Samsung.

You're old school tech user that why you need a large storage. Nowadays, tech savvy like me store my stuff on the cloud. This is not mentioning when 5G came out, with faster download/streaming, I don't even know the reason for having an external capacity.

How many 4K movie can a Cloud Service hold? 1? A 400G SD card can hold 10 4K movie, that's 14 hours of entertainment. Bandwidth is also an issue for cloud, not to mention if you want to take some 4K movie out of your phone when you are in a concert or something.

I have a 1TB google drive (Yes, 1TB, it cost me $10A per month) and I seldom use them on my phone, and I still uses a 256GB memory card.

LOL you are such a joker right now. Relax, we know you're a China-hater so you don't need to talk crap about a Chinese company. It have nothing to do with being Pro-China or Anti-China, if this is the spec for the next Apple and they are claiming they will destroy Samsung with that spec, I will still say the same, again, as I said and maintain thru out the whole passage, I am not saying P20 Pro is bad or whatever, I am just saying they are more expensive than the Samsung and you did not get the value of that Price Huawei is selling. For me, the optimal price for P20 Pro is around $1100, then I will consider it my next phone (In fact, I am in a process to replace my old Samsung S7 Edge) so I am actually looking at news phone.

Again, we can start posting data if you want and see how the 2 phone sales number goes in country that did not ban the Huawei.

Right now I prefer Samsung's phones, you haven't reached their level yet.

Yeah, most review actually put P20 Pro BEHIND Last Year flagship such as Google 2 XL

https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/huawei-p20-pro-vs-google-pixel-2-xl

The problem is P20 is more expensive than a Samsung S9+ ($100 more if the RRP is correct) and everything in a P20 Pro is inferior than Samsung S9+ apart from the camera. The would become why you want to pay the extra $100 for P20 Pro instead of Samsung?

People buy Samsung because they are versatile and they are upgradable easily, people willing to pay 3 to 400 more for IPhone because of the IOS, but if the only selling point of P20 Pro is because they score 10 point more of a nice enough camera on a S9+? That would not worth it. Considering S9+ camera is already very nice and you probably not going to use all the potential to begin with. Most photography nuts like me would much rather shoot with DSLR than camera, considering you cannot photoshop your photo much straight from the phone.

I would rather Huawei have their flagship phone cheaper than Samsung, then I think they are about as competitive as Samsung, maybe they can take a chunk of sale out of Galaxy, but in this case, you are expecting to fork out $1499 for a P20 Pro only because its camera? Many people would simply go and buy a Samsung S9+ for $1350

Well.. I have no idea what kind of S9 you owned.

Little did i know a mobile phone designed to be compact and slim can be coined with the term 'versatile' and 'upgradable'.

You must be living in an alternate world.

I'm in iOS user so this phone has no appeal for me. In the end, it's still an Android phone and will appeal to those who currently use it. If Huawei, or any Chinese phone company, for that matter, really want to take on iOS, it should create its own OS on its own hardware.

Actually Micromax is in a better position to do so to rival IOS.

I have faith with the engineers in Bangalore. SP2012.

FINE.

You cant afford a high end phone. Squeeze your balls and move on with your 8000 rupees Redmi 5.

Well.. I have no idea what kind of S9 you owned.

Little did i know a mobile phone designed to be compact and slim can be coined with the term 'versatile' and 'upgradable'.

You must be living in an alternate world.

I don't think you ever own a phone.

Each phone have their OS upgrade during a certain of time a la Android 7.0 to Android 8.0 or iOS 10 to iOS 11, EVEYRBODY knows OS that build on Android (Suh as EMUI) usually take longer than stock Android to upgrade, sometime build on Android did not upgrade with stock android at all (EMUI skipped Android 6 and 7 and build on from 5 and skip to 8) If that is not an upgrade, tell me what it is?

And by Versatile, I mean some phone you can dual use it as a tablet or even a laptop computer, Samsung is KNOWN to offer an Phablet a la NOTE Series, where you can also take care of your word processing need with a stylus and Bluetooth keyboard and basically you can use Note 8 as a computer (You can also direct the screen on your monitor or TV too)

If you have to ask this question, that mean either you are still using Android 1.6 on a phone and never updated, or you are still using one of those Brick Phone.

Better educate yourself before opening your mouth, otherwise you WILL looks and sounds stupid

FINE.

You cant afford a high end phone. Squeeze your balls and move on with your 8000 rupees Redmi 5.

Maybe you are the one that needed to upgrade your phone, if you never even heard of OS upgrading

But I think you probably can't fork out 8000 rupee to buy a phone. Whatever how much that is. 窮爆....窮到要拔路邊草

LOL

Dont be a smart alec.

Releasing new firmware is an industry practice. Many of these software 'upgrades' are just minor bug fixes or adding some features or supporting for new models. But for Indians like you who are dumb enough would believe an increment of 1 is an 'upgrade'. Dumb twats are vulnerable to marketing stunts made by big corporate.

The versatility is nothing new. Controlling your smart phone from a computer can be done without Samsung software. There are other application that can do the same thing. Its nothing new.

Take your 50 rupees and go to a proper school. Obviously your thick skull is getting you no where with your nonsensical crap you post.

Your post is too dumb I don't know where to start to response.....

You think Android upgrade is just "Minor" bug fixing, it looks a lot more like you are the one trying to be a smart alec.

The rest of your post is, what should I say? Match the standard of the person who posted it.

And by the way, I am a Chinese, I am not an Indian, I don't earn rupee.

Rhetoric again.

Your only defense when being exposed for being a dumb tawt with nothing to rebut me.

Take your 50 rupees and move on. Redmi 5 is good enough for lower caste indians, it can be good enough for your thick skull.

lol how do I rebut shit? If you can think of a way, let me know, because that was what your post is.

你個大頭蘇蝦真偉大 LOL

Learn some Chinese before talking to me. It's just plain stupid not to speak a word of Chinese and rooting for China, 真好笑

Come on upgrades and versatility. Go on. Make your 50 rupees count.

Your wall of text proves otherwise.

Go on rebut me :)

Again, what to rebut? You have no point. And you have not rebut my point either.

Upgrade - Upgrade is major, not like you said is minor bug fixing

For Example - Android 7 Nougut over Android 6 Marshmallow

Added Feature
- Split Screen
- VR Mode
- Open GL 3D rendering
- Implementing Image Keyboard (7.1 or above) for VR environment
- Tempering Resistance Boot (Only bug fixed so far)

Android 8 Oreo over Android 7 Nougat
- Support Picture in Picture
- Android Go (Performance management software)
- Vendor interfaces (Future proof core code that allow quick adaptation to future version of android)
- Enhanced security suite

Saying Android upgrade from 7.0 to 8.0 is nothing but patching and fixing bug is the same as saying The only different between Window XP and Window 10 is a few bug being fixed and patching some problem. LOL

And that is take your own word for it, because you still YET TO EXPLAIN HOW ANDROID UPGRAED IS ONLY ABOUT BUG FIXING.

As for versatility, as I said, you can use your phone as a game console, computer, phone, with the Note Series, which is world famous on being versatilely adaptive. There are no correspondent class in Huawei phone, Mate might have been one, but Mate does not support a lot of feature Note support including multi-device input and storage expansion.

Maybe you can't buy a phone in Zimbabwe? Poor you

I did not said android upgrade is only about bug fixing :)

Well your thick skull wanna interpret that way then FINE :)
