Huawei P20 (899Euros) Released: 40 MP RGB camera, AI-driven photography system, and 4000 mAh battery

whatever you said my dear
LOL.

You are talking about 2-3x gen difference in camera that cost consumer only $100 more. That is not including other stuff like better battery and a more sleeker design. People pay much more than $100 just to jump from 64gb to 128gb. And here you are whiny about $100 more for better camera? LOL

This phone is superior to every phone out there right now that it's not even funny. I just bought the Mate 10 Pro and consider exchanging for this phone. If not for this beautiful case, I would have return it already. LOL

Look. I am not saying P20 pro is a bad phone or anything, but in term if and when you compare to Samsung S9+, the only thing P20 Pro is slightly better is the camera option (S9+ do offer 3500mAH battery and it is not much of a different of a 4000mAH battery in P20 Pro (You are talking about 1 to 2 hour more standby time, but at the end of the day, it really depend on how you use your phone. Since you are talking about charges with 4 Ampere in an Hour and 3.5 Ampere in an Hour Capacity, so this is quite subjective. So if you use your phone more frequent or open more apps, It make no much different between a 4000mAH battery and a 3500mAH Battery

The design is another subjective issue, you may like some design, and people may like other, Samsung Phone ALWAYS give out more different style if you compare the S8 to P10 (Both of the last generation) S8+ have 6 different colors while P10 only have 3 (At least in Australia, I don't know how many colors you have in both in China). And I am a friend of the near bezel-less phone (Especially Samsung Edge) but again, phone design is quite subjective.

So, the only thing objective is the hardware melt-down. While both phone are having a base model with 6GB RAM (Which is not a big deal) Samsung processor is faster at Octa-Core 4 x 2.7 + 4 x 1.7 vs P20 Octa Core 4 x 2.4 + 4 x 1.8. On the other hand, Samsung MP18 GPU out perform P20 MP12 (Both of Exynos) 350GFLOPS vs P20 Pro 260 GFLOPS, which mean the graphic processing is faster and cleaner in the Samsung (Almost 100 GFLOPS faster). Physically, Samsung uses 1440-slade Super AMOLED Screen compare to 1080-slade AMOLED screen on the P20 Pro. And S9+ is 0.1 inch bigger than P20 Pro. So Samsung screen is bigger with better resolution than P20 Pro. Samsung Processor support up to 400GB mini-SD card where as P20 Pro Processor support up to 256 GB.

So in term of hardware, apart from the Camera, P20 Pro is at lest 1 generation behind Samsung Phone with the exception of Graphic processor, which is 3 generation behind (MP12 was released on Q1 2016 where MP18 was released Q1 2018), the camera (Which P20 Pro is better), the RAM (which are the same) and the Screen Size (which are almost the same).

I don't know how and why you would honestly think P20 pro can outsell Samsung S9+ in the world (Maybe in China, who knows?) with only a better camera which is not actually 2 or 3 generation above as you claim (LG did had a phone with 40MP camera on it but again, was considered an overkill and do not sell well.) As I said on this post, people who need that deep spec on a camera would most likely uses DSLR anyway.

And I do not know how you measure which phone is better because in term of physical statistic, Samsung Phone is better than P20 Pro on CPU Speed, Graphic Processor Speed, Screen technology and Expanded Storage capacity. While P20 Pro only have the camera that is ahead of S9+ in which S9+ camera is already good enough. So, unless you can point to me why and how P20 pro is a better phone than Samsung S9+, I would call your buff.

The problem with the Samsung Galaxy is that it can no longer differentiate itself from any other Android phone. The Samsung Galaxy is boring.

The Galaxy S9 Plus has Snapdragon 845, dual-camera, DxOMark Score 99, 6GB RAM
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S has Snapdragon 845, dual-camera, DxOMark Score 97, 8GB RAM.

The Xiaomi is cheaper.

The Galaxy S9 Plus battery and charge time are not that great. Huawei has its own SuperCharge, a proprietary fast charging technology.

Inexplicably, Samsung also still has Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 on the Galaxy S9, rather than the Quick Charge 4.0 we’ve seen on some other devices which is far quicker. Of course, you still have wireless charging and the like, but it’s disappointing that 2018’s biggest flagship is still years behind in the fast charging department, especially since we’re on the Snapdragon 845 here.
https://9to5google.com/2018/02/25/samsung-galaxy-s9-tidbits/

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus ships with the same 3,500mAh battery as the S8 Plus from last year. Heavy usage saw it drop to 25 percent by 6.30 p.m. after coming off the charger at 7.30 a.m. That’s not bad, but it’s far from the best performance around, and you may need to charge during the day if you’re a power user. Wireless charging is available, but the S9 Plus still only comes with QuickCharge 2.0, despite the Snapdragon 845’s QuickCharge 4.0 support.

We haven’t had a chance to properly test the P20 Pro’s battery, but we’re expecting the 4,000mAh battery to showcase similar performance to the Mate 10 Pro’s incredible battery life. With wireless charging available and Huawei’s SuperCharge fast-charging tech, we expect the P20 Pro to be a superior performer in battery life and charging.

It all depends on what you want in your phone.

If you want SoC benchmark performance, there are half a dozen phones coming out in 2018 that will have Snapdragon 845.

If you want the world's best smartphone camera, industry-first triple camera, with probably the best battery on the market right now, get the Huawei P20 Pro.

Samsung's Exynos processor is causing poor battery life for the Galaxy S9

2 Apr 2018

When Samsung announced the Galaxy S9/S9+ at MWC this past February, one of the more concerning aspects were the unchanged battery capacities. Just like the S8 series before it, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ come equipped with 3,000 mAh and 3,500 mAh batteries, respectively. Thanks to this and a power-hungry processor, this has resulted in less-than-awesome battery performance for a lot of users.

Similar to many of Samsung's other phones, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ have different processors based on which region you buy the phone in. The handsets are powered by the Snapdragon 845 here in the States, but in other parts of the world, they use Samsung's own Exynos 9810 chipset. Battery life is perfectly fine for the Snapdragon-equipped variants, but the Exynos ones have bit somewhat of a dumpster fire.

lol You know very little about phone technology. The processor benchmark is becoming irrelevant as phone chip maker developed their AI chip to master certain tasks. In this case, Samsung Exynos chipset is gearing toward graphic and power hungry user meanwhile the Kirin is developed with battery saving in mind. It's an apple and orange comparison and depending on user choice, if they want a battery sucking magnet then use the Exynos. However those who love the long battery life, then there is nobody come close to the Huawei P20/Mate 10 Pro as not only the capacity is larger than most premium phone out there but the Kirin AI chip is design with extended battery performance in mind. You add that two together, we are not talking about 1-2 hr standby difference but 6-8 difference in high performance application. There is no dispute which phone battery last longer in a day. Huawei wins by a long margin.

For the camera feature, it was not about the megapixel but how huawei introduced the 40megapixel into the world 1st triple lense. That is a game changer. There is a new standard on how phone camera should go from now.

The 100gb extra in microSD won't be any game changer. Those minor feature doesn't wow people. If the US doesn't ban Huawei, I'm pretty sure P20 would outsell the S9+ pretty easily. There isn't much dispute about it. Once you spend over $800 on a premium phone, those $100 extra bit is consider minor when you are talking about a gamer changer with triple lense camera, AI smart capability, and extended battery performance. Those are some of the feature consumers care the most, battery, camera, and graphic interface. Huawei got 2 out of 3 on lock.

Huawei net profit up 28 percent in 2017
Xinhua, March 30, 2018

SHENZHEN, March 30 (Xinhua) -- China's technology firm Huawei said Friday that its net profit last year had grown by 28 percent to 47.5 billion yuan (7.55 billion U.S. dollars).

Its sales increased by 16 percent from 2016, reaching over 603.6 billion yuan.

Headquartered in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, privately-owned Huawei is a world-leading telecom solution provider and also the world's third largest smartphone brand, behind Apple and Samsung. Enditem

Again, you are arguing something really subjective.

For the battery, it won't be that much of the different, AI or no AI between 3500 and 4000 mAH battery, you are talking about 0.5A different on apps usage, which is 1 to 2 apps, it won't make much different if you are program/apps intense user, it's not like a 2500 or 3000 mAH vs 4000mAH, so If I play game, listen to Spotify and watch youtube, check twitter and facebook on my phone, it will finish more or less the same time. And if you don't use that much feature, then those people would mostly don't buy top end phone.

How 40MP tri-Camera is "Game Changer" to set or a future trend when you completely ignore my point of getting that camera intensive on a phone is useless?? People are that camera intensive would generally prefer DSLR over taking picture with a phone, and people who uses phone camera does not really care about resolution and AI tech, they usually just click and go. And a good enough camera is already enough.

And finally, people needed large storage, for me, I always put my music and video on my phone so I can watch them when I was travelling on a train or bus, and the bigger the storage, the better both the number of movie I can store and the quality of the movie, so I can store UHD movie instead of 720P.

I don't think Huawei will outsell Samsung S9 even if US does not ban Huawei, simply because Huawei broke one major rules, that is their phone are supposed to be cheap, and if they charge more than Samsung S9 with an inferior phone, people will simply not consider it. I don't think I see how Huawei can outsell Samsung, we can post data from Australia, UK, Canada, or other place that does not ban the sale of Huawei. We will see how good or bad the phone perform.

6 GB Of RAM is well more than enough, and I am pretty sure the one in the Galaxy S9 is clocked higher than the one in Xiaomi phones.
Charging speed and battery drain don't effect me as long as I get my one day of usage, and I get more than it.
Also, which phones use QC 4.0? Most I've seen is 3.0.
3500mAh compared to 4000mAh, there was only a 16 minute advantage to the P-20 in this video
Is that enough for you to call the P-20 Pro's battery incredible, and the S9 Plus not that great?

By the way, you also get some really good 100$ AKG earbuds.

Samsung Galaxy S9 battery problems, explained: Exynos vs. Snapdragon

3 Apr 2018

New phones should have better battery life than their predecessors. That's a given, and part of the unspoken rule of technological progress. And yet in recent years that hasn't been a given. Along the way, we've seen blips — Snapdragon 810, anyone? — on the way to greater efficiency.

This year, the culprit is Samsung's Exynos 9810, the ultra-fast chip that ships with all Galaxy S9 and S9+ units outside of the U.S. Samsung's new custom M3 cores inside the phone are clocked extremely high, up to 2.7GHz when only one of the four performance cores is engaged, and that, according to an excellent overview by AnandTech, ramps up the voltage (and the heat output), causing it to churn through the Galaxy S9's battery like a raccoon through garbage.

Technically, there is nothing surprising about this — the Exynos 9810's M3 cores are extremely powerful, besting Qualcomm's proprietary Kryo cores by a large margin in synthetic tests like Geekbench. But Samsung appears to have failed the task of balancing real-world performance with device longevity, and given Android's scalability, such theoretical performance advantages are not always borne out in the mundanities of daily tasks.

In other words, it looks like the Exynos 9810 is a battery dud.

What part of "The Exynos model gets only 16 minutes less of battery life compared to the P-20 Pro's allegedly "incredible" battery" do you not understand? The difference in battery life is negligible

If you keep debating with these people, they will simply turn around and around in a corner, just illustrate your point and move on, you keep challenging them, they will keep spinning the same direction.

For phone user, people don't really care how long the battery charge or how much that battery hold if you are using top end phone, there are numerous other thing you can do to extend your battery, one of them is to get a $30 power bank which will top your phone up twice and its something you would get if you buy a $1400 phones, in fact JB Hi-Fi (Local electronic store) once did a promote and give away those power bank for free if you buy a high end phone.

But at the end of the day, it does not matter how long it takes to charge or how much battery drain, as long as you get a full day work with your phone, that is enough, and that is easily done with either IPhone or Samsung phones
