Even people who have no problem whatsoever have this feeling sometimes. All is well... Financially, medically, socially, in family.
They may be rich, healthy and have a large circle of family and good friends.
But they have enthusiasm for nothing.
They have that feeling... Seen everything, now what's left..
Nothing interests such people, nothing stimulates them.
So how do you deal with losing interest in (enthusiasm for) life?
P. S.: No need to be alarmed. These are not thoughts of suicide.
So, whilst I can't speak for anyone else. Here in Manchester, United Kingdom we have an area of the city center called 'Piccadilly Gardens'
It forms the center of the city center and has a historical significance, this bit of land was first donated by a Lord to the people and a pond was build within in for the beautification of the city in the early 1700's. In the 1800's Manchester's first Royal Infirmary was built here including the city's first lunatic asylum.
in the late 1889's Emily Pankhurt gave her first speech for women's rights right outside this plot of land, since then the garden has been the hub for political protests and free speech, to the tourist the surrounding buildings with their ivory facade and gleaming interiors are far removed from the blight of homelessness.
Manchester has a serious homelessness problem, figures from the ONS: Office for National Statistics shows that one in every 633 people in Manchester is homeless. Couple that with rising crime rates and the prevalence of drug usage specifically 'SPICE' among the homeless and it paints a bleak picture that one would find in any modern metropolis, if you scratched the surface.
SPICE really has made the situation worse, that is what some would argue, but I honestly believe that SPICE has only made the invisible 'visible'. The once grey homeless which you would walk past on your daily shopping spree, are now highly visible in a comatose, collapsed state:
In my job many of my colleagues treat the homeless with contempt and vermin, I find this uncomfortable, not just because they too are someone's son, daughter, brother, sister, father, mother, they are human's just like me or you.
Homelessness is not something that is new, it is an entirely human invention created out of want, spite and stinginess. In the book of Matthew 8:20 it is said: And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
In the New Testament ESV:
Proverbs 19:17 Jesus said Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.
And this one line is very important, because the homeless are sometimes the invisible majority in a minority of those who have everything but are blind to the fate of others, in St. Anne Square of Manchester, just outside St. Anne's Church, there is a bench:
In the daily hustle and bustle of modern life it would be entirely possible to miss the humble yet poignant reminder, for what everyone sees is the impressive facade of a house of worship in all it's splendor and glory.
But take a closer look:
A bench, with the statute of a male figure draped in nothing but a thin shawl. One of the glass pane widows has an inscription in Latin which reads "The lord is my Shepard, I shall not want"
Again how is this statute relevant to God's teaching? Lets take a closer look:
Upon closer examination we find signs of 'Stigmata' the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ. This picture is a powerful reminder to never be blind to the suffering of others.
In the Book of Matthew it is mentioned:
'For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me'.
But helping those that are less fortunate than us is not unique to Christianity, in the Quran it is said:
You shall not attain righteousness until you spend out of what you love (in the way of Allah). Allah knows whatever you spend. (3:92)
Muslims of Manchester practice a lot of social work:

The Sikh Community of Manchester feed the homeless on a regular basis:

So whenever you feel low, and down, just look around and remember there is always someone struggling harder than you, be happy for what you have, don't covet what you don't have.
Stay blessed!
