Noakhali was in response to the Kolkata massacre. Having said that, I don't want to fight over "who killed more". Both sides did wrong, and it's a terrible chapter in Bengal's history that should never repeat. We're generally more tolerant of other religions/minorities, compared to other ethnic groups in the subcontinent.

Besides there can be no comparison between the Muslim Government(Bengal) and the Hindu minority(Bengal had a Hindu minority). The Muslim National Guards took part in the riots. The results were obvious. It started on the Id ul Fitr when the purest of the pure decided to cleanse their land of kufr on 29th August. DAD was even before that. There were obviously and typically forced conversions which were boasted by the ML leaders. Had it been a revenge of a Calcutta killing the total annihilation of the Noakhali Hindus could not have been in response to it. It was done because the Pure decided that it was time to clean the place up. Period.

According to M. A. Khan, at least 95% of the Hindus of Noakhali were converted to Islam. According to Justice G.D. Khosla, the entire Hindu population of Noakhali had been robbed of all they possessed and then forcibly converted to Islam

I agree that Bengalis in general are more tolerant than other ethnic groups in the subcontinent and I accept that fact totally.

It does matter as far as we are concerned.Your people started a violent riot out of nowhere on 6th of August 1946,a day which Jinnah declared as "Direct Action Day".Your "momins" went on a killing spree and massacred more or less 5,000 innocent Bengali Hindus in the first three days of the riot.It's only after then our boys started to retaliate and invaded the muslim majority areas of Khiddirpur and Metiaburuz.Noakhali was also started by you guys,you were brainwashed by those Punjabi Muslims into believing that the only solution of getting an independent Pakistan was to kill your fellow Hindu brothers with whom you share similar genes!!

It was a brilliant indian tactic not to attack east but at the same time making bengalis realise they were class 2.

In 65 India was defending an attack by pakistan, the only way to relieve pressure on kashmir(where we were suddenly required to defend) was to attack west pakistan, at a place they will defend(punjab, and specifically lahore looked delicious, it does even now). It would have been stupid to attack east pakistan and bog down your resource, pakistanis (the people with power) wont have bothered if we attacked, they would have been delighted.

Unfortunately, we have also ignored that chapter of our history and our state-run TV never plays clips and patriotic songs of that period from East Pakistan nor does our electronic/print media shed any light on the contribution of East Pakistanis in that war. This in my opinion is worst kind of intellectual dishonesty. There should be no doubt that honest, sincere, patriotic, and heroic efforts were made by the people of both East and West Pakistan to defend their motherland.

'65 War was our war as well. Being the majority part of Pakistan and the promoters of Pakistan project, we took full and responsible part. Our 1 E Bengal defending Luliani, LHR had bagged the highest number of gallantry awards by any unit in the War. Our soldiers and officers fought shoulder to shoulder with their WP comrades in every sector. I myself was in Op Gibraltar and later in Sialkot sector. Buch, Saiful Azam, MM Alam and many others were our sons in PAF. PNS Ghazi had a good number of Bengali officers and seamen.
