How can Egypt counter the F35i?

Israel does not have a strategic depth, this is something they know very well, and ALL their military strategies have been trying to circumvent this shortfall. However, it is about dealing with these strategies.

Yeah, but Saudi Arabia is also extremely close to Israel and can target every inch of Israel as well. Okay here is a lesson for you Hazzy, don't think that Arabs are not attacking Israel because they are weak, and the moment they become strong enough they will take Israel down, Arabs are already stronger. However the fallout of such a war is not any Arab country is prepared to take.

Agree with you, especially about your last sentence. As for my point, I was thinking it's more mobile/reliable to have short range ballistic missiles. Maybe more than that.

Export licenses getting tougher to get.
A deal to help KSA to buid a factory to refurbish AT Missiles will not get past the initial stage.
AWACS is less sensitive than lets say assault rifles, and other things directly useable in an insurgency.

Oh my dear friend, it is already passed all stages, I've been there, and it is not refurbishing, it is building from scratch, I have been there. And in fact a certain sweedish gentleman is one of my patients and he is there for this job.

@Mosamania

I read that Saudis have purchased DF series BM's from China??

Maybe!

Here is the article on the Dong Feng 21D Ballistic Missile which has a range of 1,500 kilometers and was modified for and is accurate enough to hit a moving US Carrier Battle:

"U.S. naval planners are scrambling to deal with what analysts say is a game-changing weapon being developed by China – an unprecedented carrier-killing missile called the Dong Feng 21D that could be launched from land with enough accuracy to penetrate the defenses of even the most advanced moving aircraft carrier at a distance of more than 1,500 kilometers (900 miles).

The weapon, a version of which was displayed last year in a Chinese military parade, could revolutionize China's role in the Pacific balance of power, seriously weakening Washington's ability to intervene in any potential conflict over Taiwan or North Korea. It could also deny U.S. ships safe access to international waters near China's 11,200-mile (18,000-kilometer) -long coastline.

While China's Defense Ministry never comments on new weapons before they become operational, the DF 21D – which would travel at 10 times the speed of sound and carry conventional payloads – has been much discussed by military buffs online."

Dong Feng 21D, Chinese Missile, Could Shift Pacific Power Balance

They already paraded some of them. And the missile silos were leaked to the internet. Some sources on the web were so desperate to locate them.

As far as I know they have never tested it. Why aren't they showing video footage of it hitting a moving target in the ocean? What a coup that video would be in showing their military prowess.

Some people are so desperate for Cold War Round 2 to start, not realizing that it hasn't yet, not for a while at least, it smells like it might have been, but not yet.

The US has video of an ICBM launching from California and a MIRV hitting a tiny tiny island in the Marshal Islands chain.
You'd think China would happily top that by showing a moving target hit.

There is nothing to top, the US can single handidly pulverize a Chinese+Russian coalition on their own. As far as a current balance of power is concerned. They are getting stronger true but it won't happen in this decade at least.

Yeah, there was a thread on it here on PDF.
An Internet forum based in Argentima. Good nugh
As funny as that might sound, i don't think the PLA would induct a strategic weapon without testing it first.

Of course they tested it, and I do think it is as effective as they say. However it is not that much of a balance of power tipper as it is being made out to be.

Mobile, and it has multiple warheads? Or is that me seeing something wrong?
Yes, the DF-21D can be launched from a Mobile Launcher. I think those multiple warheads were just computer animations depicting multiple Missile launches targeted toward a single Carrier Battle Group.
