What's new

Give orange metro subsidy or build schools and hospitals.

.
No offense meant but your first 2 points are extremely pathetic.

Justify the noise and air pollution by a modern metro train working on electro magnetic rails ? Bhai this is not the usual BS chuk chuk train like those we have from a century, this is a modern train, soundless, you never know it approaches you unless you see it with your eyes.
Bro i am a medic from public health field. What i say is what i do day in and day out.
I would ignore the poor selection of words from ur side and would try to highlight a few points
1. Air pollution
The structure of orange train runs through some real thickly populated areas. The stations are massive. Thats a deterrant to free flow of air and it also is a nidus for holding onto the fine particles and gradually to bigger waste which starts a kind of a slow chain reaction.
Underneath all the structure are the same rickshaw, vans, buses and dust which all contribute to smog.
Lahore has lost a huge amount of tree cover both within and in its vicinity which also contributes to the detrimental effects of man made disasters.
You can google up these for details

2. Noise pollution:
Modes of transportation are not just contributing to noise pollution by the combustable engines as u rightly pointed out to the electric and newer meghlav trains. There is something called vibration that emanates from moving joints, friction and everything from a car to an aircraft. Here we have put in a train 30 feet up in the air which is passing right above or in close proximity of houses, shops and commercial areas most of the way. One loose bolt at sleeper joints or on a metal plate can make a noise far above the permitable decibels level.
Two big reasons developed world prefers to go underground than above it as above structures either need to be planned meticulously during city planning (dubai etc) or need far more maintenance to cut down on harmful effects.

Hope u get my drift. Do Google before passing sweeping statements mate.

My main point was against your claim of noise pollution, agree with your stance on prevailing air pollution and how it will worsen due to this. In Dubai, the tracks that are overhead are in places where there are very open roads and not many building around, mostly places which are very wide open. Those underground are in areas which are already developed and are constricted. So i agree here as well.

My words weren’t poor tho but apologies if you took them as such...

If you need facilities then pay taxes as well. Most of the punjab dont even pay income taxes but free ki ride chaye

Is this tax or bhatta?
First create credibility, I dont have stable electricity, proper water supply or even road infrastructure but we must pay hafta to the dacoits and robbers in the bureaucracy mafia who cant deliver services but sucking our blood. This is not a colony anymore and British used to manage well and deliver servicez unlike these thugs in the govt. services who think of themselves as pharaohs.
These pharaohs eat loans from IMF while ordinary Pakistanis suffer under IMF programs.
First PTI must deliver on its promise and throw this mafia out with meaningful reforms or else this is human rights violation to give taxes to this mafia to rip us off.

Not sure what ‘hafta’ is..?

I’m not a fan of colonialism just like many..
though you’re post got me thinking;
my grandfather who’s passed now used to tell my dad about how efficient the British were in repairs , maintenance and emergency response. For instance how quickly they would come out to repair sections of a collapsed canal... yet over 70 years later ..we all know how dismal it is..

hafta means batta or subsistence money derived from the special allowances provided to british officials and soldiers in colonial India. A british officer who used to live in a small house was able to live in a lavish manner when he visited India. Now this term is used for corrupt govt. officers and local ganglords who receive special money from shopkeepers and others.

Still British bureaucracy was way ahead in terms of getting things done and were a answerable to higher ups for any untoward incident. Corruption was non-existent on lower levels and services were top notch.

This experiment to employ South Asians to work unser British system has failed terrobly and even Britain has legislated and changed their services many yearz back.

Reforms are required to first improve the govt. sevices delivery to the citizen and throw out corrupt trash from the system. Bring people of merit and background.

yep I agree..one problem that I’ve come across is that the corruption which is so many different levels is heavily entrenched... & I’ve said before on PDF ..there are multiple rings operating often overlapping... it’s a nightmare & I really cannot see a solution..

( all potential solutions are welcome....)

Tax for your beloved orange train not for water and electricity.
I think better option is government should hand over this orange to some private company.

.
thats logical point but i want to say that development project which could ease the people's problems also necessary. your point is also valid
Ease problem of one city at the expense of the entire province

I'm a Karachi resident and mass transit is extremely crucial in today's day and age to escape traffic jams and benefits the the public. Firat check how much PTI has spent to improve water supply and electricity in last 2 years. PTI has proven to be an imbecile in executing even small projects same level with the corrupt PPP rule during 2011.

.
Government should privatize everything. There is no reason to continue giving subsidies to government owned enterprises.

Most the government ministers and Sindh government only care about commissions and kickbacks so they will never agree for an outside company to take over the project but If I was in the government, I would have reached out to South Korea, Japan or Germany to take over this project start to finish and let them operate and manage it.

Govt should only operate where it actually was made/designed for in first place.

Its amazing how many people still dont understand this basic tenet of common sense.

.
Can someone ask PTI how many schools and hospitals were built by them in their tenure?
They forgot to mention the cost of their pet project Peshawar BRT and why its still.not operational. Orange line was suppose to start last year but it was delayed due to litigation by PTI itself. All infrastructure projects facing slowdown and hurdles in funding under PTI govt. All projects are made on loans.

Pti govt. has become a joke.

Give me some official figures on Peshawar BRT to prove your claim? waiting...

All development comes with multiple source of fundings including loans but still project incorporates economic viability with in feasibility studies.
I request someone to please share feasibility study of Orange Line here so we can discuss on that.

At-least PTI is not giving public money to corrupt officials to fat them up instead to spending on development.
