Just quickly, this may answer some of your query. IA had a numarical superiority of 1:15 excluding Mukhti Bahini. I will post back the statistic as soon as i find it.

Even that makes it a Million IA soldiers in Bangladesh alone leaving aside the western and northern fronts - I doubt IA had that kind of numbers in entirety.

Pakistan army lost. Why make one man a scapegoat for the collective failure of whole army?

@Aeronaut...I Think what could have been the right decision was executed by Gen Niazi whether people may call him coward or not after all Gen was a human being with almost nothing in hands to fight an over helming Tri Arm fighting to take over. We should open a poll Bhutto was a traitor or not after all E. Pak mess should be credited to him.

Isn't musharraf also accountable for surrendering Pakistan to US at their terms for what we are suffering for the past 12 years compared to Iran, NK, Venezula who are still alive and kicking...

We should focus what is happening today we have haqqani, rehman malik, zardari, musharraf, asfandiar wali, altaf, buloch traitor leaders, munafiq league and dozens and dozens of traitors and country is literally on the brink of collapse regardless of people accept it or not, we are being spied as the world's second country after Iran being a so called ally 13B data has been provided to US and has access to by the help of GOP/Army-ISI/Police. How many traitors are there with-in Pakistan to this day.

Was Gen Niazi traitor even if he was and a coward, we have bigger traitors of next generations to tackle with who is going to stop them. Even the judiciary the one and only in this entire world the first of its kind is traitor so lets leave that poor Niazi he is 6ft under we've much traitors to deal with.

Indian Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Was Chief of Army Staff of Indian Army during 1971 War and he died in 2008 at age of 94. On 28 July 1999 Famous Indian Journalist Karan Thapar done a Interview of Field Marshal Manekshaw. During the Interview Karan Thapar asked a Question From Manekshaw whose Answer shocked Millions of people in India The Question was how much Credit of 1971 War Victory goes to you because Pakistan Army not shown any Bravery during this War?

Manekshaw replied its a wrong Perception the truth is that Pakistan Army fought very bravely in 1971 War but their was no chance of their Victory due to several reasons. They where fighting thousands of Kilometers away from their base while preparation for war was very easy for us. There where 15 Indian Soldiers fighting with 1 Pakistani Soldiers so there was no chance of their Victory. Than Manekshaw told the story of a brave Pakistani Soldier Captain Ahsan Malik who fought very bravely alone with Indian Army In Dhaka. Indian Army done several big attacks but Ahsan Malik given them very tough time. After the war Manekshaw even written a letter to Ahsan Malik in which he appreciated his Bravery. It was unique Incident because Chief of Staff of a enemy Country written a letter to admire the bravery of a enemy Country's Soldier. After 1971 War Manekshaw came to Pakistan Twice and both times he went to meet Captain Ahsan Malik. He also said that Ahsan Malik deserves biggest military decoration. This Interview of Manekshaw makes it clear that Pakistan Army fought with great bravery in 1971 War but they where fighting in such Situation where Victory for them was Impossible

capt. ahsan malik should have been awarded the HJ. nothing less...remember only soldiers who have fought each other can admire the bravery on both sides....

so one would expect you guys to make some gains in western front (after all that was your plan, to defend east by amassing firepower in west). India just needed to defend the western front. How did we manage to not only defend but also capture territory there.

The performance of pakistani armed forces should be in question, individual bravery aside.

True and honorable heroes, if they get, back will similarly be treated like Muhammad bin Qasim, sidelined, tortured physically and mentally etc etc because opportunists dont want these heroes to question them

I would rather have such arrangement in Indian army... lower leadership with raw caurage and grit, where as upper leadership with good capability of strategy and planning

.
they should ask this question to the current sardar of the Niazi Clan,

Jenaab imran Khan saab.

@Oscar

Accurately speaking, the atrocities commenced under Tikka Khan. He was far more of a murdering psychotic than Niazi was. That is a lame defence, but worth placing on record, I think.

Joe, if you read about Tikka Khan from his contemporaries.. the man was a complete "Jeeves". He was a good tactician.. but also an order follower.. who gave the orders?

Then how on earth did Gen.Tikka Khan get elevated to Generalship? And did he not also become COAS?
That apart, Tikka Khan was the man who let loose the "reign of terror" in East Pakistan and also earned the title of "Butcher of Balochistan". On whose orders did he do all of that?

The one officer who came out creditably in East Pakistan at the levels of Higher Command was Lt.Gen.Sahibzada Yakub Khan; who went to make a sterling career as a diplomat. Even Adm.S.M.Ahsan comes off well out of that episode in History.
