YPG alone can not defeat ISIS it needs support from partners and cover of air fighters. You should watch the docu they showed on channel 4 in UK.

Well, in the end any modern day conventional urban fight means troops go in slowly supported by air power. But there's more to it before they can launch such an operation.

Besides that a city can't just be taken without securing the surrounding areas. In other words armies need to control everything leading up to a city or they risk being attacked. Furthermore, the city needs to be at least partially encircled to prevent fighters from escaping and launching counter attacks, similarly encircling a city will prevent reinforcements.
