Egypt mulls JF-17 co-production

Well it does not effects JF17 thunder as we still have huge 300 fighter order that needs to be filled till
2015 , also it opens us to explore new avionics and other options

I think chance was lost to sell planes to Libya and Iran , we should have secured the deals with these nations for 5-10 billion 4-5 years ago

Would have been impossible, No one would buy without complete trials & non up to date package, the business goes this way you present them with a complete finished project along with configuration options. Secondly the delivery time table and lastly the new western acceptable government of Libya would have rejected the deal in favor of American F-16s new Libyan govt is/will be going after F-16s or Rafales, most likely F-16s.

Iran is no longer interested in FC-1, they are replacing many F-5s & F-7s with Indigenous F-5s where-as the other plane that has yet to be shown to the public is believed to be a medium class fighter with semi-stealth like design hard to believe, but in any case any other indigenous medium class fighter would be replacing many F-4s and french F-1s since F-1s are termed useless without french missiles and other avionics and spare parts and as a complete replacement of F-14s in years to come, thus FC-1 seems to be irrelevant to Iran. The point here has to be seen if russians will provide Iran with Engine.

Engine and Radar are two important parts would it be China or russian to bag the deal.

Iran right now is under UN's arms embargo. So whether she's interested in FC-1 or not doesn't matter at all.

That is one of the other facts and factor, It could be Iran uses J-7 WP-13 or import WP-14C Kunlun-3 engines to power its alleged HESA Azarakhsh. There are many ways Iran can obtain engines from China atleast less likely from russians.

I don't know why you think Iran can use WP-13 or import WP-14 from China. The truth is, unless UN's arms embargo was lifted, Iran can import no defence equipment at all from China. FC-1, whether Iran interested in or not, is not an option for them right now.

You should know why I think, arms embargo was there a long time ago yet Iran was able to procure from both China and Russia it is highly unlikely to impact anything if Iran asks for purchase of engines from China, Russians on the other hand have taken western pressure and are most unlikely to offer Iran any deal or at the end of the day Iran could be taking out engines from retiring planes into a few new developed airframes calling them out of the box planes?. Anyways like I said FC-1 is of no interest to Iran the primary interest to replace 1 or 2 types with indigenous F-5s.

This is something new, not sure about the source, but it seems Egypt is getting closer to aquire the JF-17. I hope it happen soon.

It would be, i always wanted Egypt to get closer to the East, we need to help eachother and develop together. Replacing the old MIGs-21 and F-7's, ect... with the JF-17 would be a huge improvment for the Egyptian Air Force, and co-production(if happens) would be a plus. Maybe soon we can see military exercises between Egypt, Pakistan, and China.

Yes! U absolutely right about that...We need to develop the defence co-production at all levels so that we can help each other in our experiences. The West can never be trusted nomore. They never trusted us and always backstabbed us. Its time for us to turn around and stand on our own feet.We got the same brain as they do so we can develop the same things they can or maybe far better than them sometimes..:smokin:

Very true. All we need is to get organized, plan, work the plan, and work together. I don't see any reason we can't make our own arms. If they can do it, we can do it too. It is a shame that you see countries developing fighters together, and we are waiting for them to finish so we can buy it, we can work together too, we are not stupid.

Apparently HESA Azarkash is not a new design but a slightly modified F-5 with Twin tails, The defence industry is very hard to grow in vacuum. Most of Iran's defence production is testament to this fact as it is usually produced by reverse engineering the already in service equipment with Iran.

.
i think it the only delay for this deal is because they want to see jft blk2 in service and they want to see upon what extend they can absorb the upgrades i think the year 2012 and 2013 is going to be fruitfull for jft................
