Well it does not effects JF17 thunder as we still have huge 300 fighter order that needs to be filled till
2015 , also it opens us to explore new avionics and other options
I think chance was lost to sell planes to Libya and Iran , we should have secured the deals with these nations for 5-10 billion 4-5 years ago
Would have been impossible, No one would buy without complete trials & non up to date package, the business goes this way you present them with a complete finished project along with configuration options. Secondly the delivery time table and lastly the new western acceptable government of Libya would have rejected the deal in favor of American F-16s new Libyan govt is/will be going after F-16s or Rafales, most likely F-16s.
Iran is no longer interested in FC-1, they are replacing many F-5s & F-7s with Indigenous F-5s where-as the other plane that has yet to be shown to the public is believed to be a medium class fighter with semi-stealth like design hard to believe, but in any case any other indigenous medium class fighter would be replacing many F-4s and french F-1s since F-1s are termed useless without french missiles and other avionics and spare parts and as a complete replacement of F-14s in years to come, thus FC-1 seems to be irrelevant to Iran. The point here has to be seen if russians will provide Iran with Engine.
Engine and Radar are two important parts would it be China or russian to bag the deal.
